Greenpeace Releases "Green" Ratings of Top Electronics Manufacturers

The guide shows American technology companies near the lower end of the green scale, with Microsoft, Apple and HP all scoring well under 5.0 on the scale. The highest rated companies were Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Toshiba.
Does this mean you should switch brands in order to be more green in your electronics? Perhaps so, but remember this: What you eat day to day has a far greater impact on the environment than what you game on. Eating meat is roughly 100 times more destructive to the environment than eating a largely plant-based diet, due to all the chemicals and pollution involved in the production of meat.
You really want to be green? Shift to a largely plant-based diet, and the positive environmental impact will dwarf any changes in your electronics consumption.
From Greenpeace.org: The use of harmful chemicals in electronics prevents their safe recycling when the products are discarded. Companies scored marks out of 51 this has then been calculated to a mark out of 10 for simplicity.... more
