UK Citizen Defeats Government Over Pesticide Spraying Threat

It's a landmark victory in the UK: Georgina Downs has emerged victorious in her landmark lawsuit against the UK government over the spraying of crops with pesticides. Those crop sprays, Georgina was able to show, directly harm the health of people living near the crops, contributing to cancers, Parkinson's disease and respiratory problems.
Remarkably, UK laws protect honeybees near crop spray areas, but not humans. This now looks to be altered thanks to the efforts of this one woman, who is now heralded as a champion of basic human health rights.
From Telegraph.co.: Miss Downs said the Government had failed to address countryside residents such as herself, "who are repeatedly exposed to mixtures of pesticides and other chemicals throughout every year, and in many cases, like mine, for decades". She told the court that she had collected evidence that agricultural chemicals caused a variety of health problems including cancer, Parkinson's disease, ME and asthma.... more
