FDA Conducts Armed Raid on Provider of Tainted Heparin Drug

When the guns come out at the FDA, they're usually pointed at health supplement companies. The armed FDA raids on vitamin shops, health food stores and supplement manufacturers are well documented. But today, the FDA actually conducted an armed raid on a provider of a dangerous pharmaceutical: The heparin drug contaminated with a chemical by Chinese manufacturers. So why doesn't the FDA raid the manufacturers of other dangerous drugs like Vioxx and Prozac? It's because the agency is too busy rubber-stamping its approval of these drugs and keeping Big Pharma happy. This armed raid on a Heparin provider is a rarity, but it's at least a sign that the FDA will, under the appropriate pressure, resort to action to protect consumers against extremely dangerous drugs.
