Indeed, today farmers can select from fifteen different shades of yellow dyes, in a range from light yellow to bright orange, to add to chicken feed in order to make egg yolks the perfect color. Known as tartrazine, or FD&C yellow no. 5, yellow dye is present in thousands of other foods and drugs and has been linked in research studies to higher rates of asthma and allergic reactions. There is also evidence it may trigger lupus symptoms in some patients. |

One scholar described this as the "yellow finger" phenomenon. Men with yellow fingertips are more likely to die of lung cancer. The reason: they are smokers. That's why they have yellow fingers. The yellowed tips of their fingers are the result of holding twenty cigarettes a day for twenty years. Washing off the yellow will not reduce their risk for lung cancer.
This brings us to cholesterol, heart disease, and the low-carb diet. |

Yellow
An indication of intellectual defense mechanisms. Some yellow is healthy because it shows the petson's ability to stay on track. A great deal of yellow indicates that a person is blocking too much. Eventually, such a person ends up with gray in their fields, the color of depression.
Brown
Signifies self-doubt. People with a lot of brown in their fields tend to have real issues with self-esteem, self-identity, and what they stand for in life. They tend to be extremely hard on themselves, almost to the point where they're digging into themselves emotionally. |

The Birth of the Diet-Heart Hypothesis and the Demonization of Saturated Fat
When the diet-heart hypothesis—the idea that saturated fat causes heart disease—was first proposed in the 1950s by Ancel Keys (see chapter 1), very little was known about either fat or cholesterol. |

The agouti mothers who didn't get the supplements produced yellow pups, which ate much more than the brown pups. The yellow pups wound up weighing almost twice as much as their lean, "pseudo-agouti" counterparts.
The University's photo on the previous page is striking. Though the two mice are genetically identical, they are radically different in appearance: one mouse is lean and brown and the other mouse is obese and yellow. What you can't see in the picture is that the obese mouse is diabetic while its genetically identical counterpart is healthy. |

In one meditation group led by the author, a women in her late sixties reported seeing a vision of a particular yellow house. In sharing it, she felt a tremendous relief, because that color yellow had always been associated with the pain of her mother's death sixty years earlier. Since the yellow image came up in meditation and was released, she lost her fear and was healed of her grief. |

Strong-smelling onions have probably been bruised, so pass them up.

Turmeric/Cur cumin
Indian food is well seasoned with turmeric, a pungent yellow member of the ginger family that is an excellent natural anti-inflammatory. The key active ingredient in this spice is curcumin, which gives turmeric its distinctive yellow color. Turmeric is also a potent antioxidant and helps to kill bacteria. It has no side effects.
Dose: Use curry powder liberally in foods—try it in chicken salad!—and supplement with 400-600 mg of turmeric, three times a day. |

The Xiaolangdi dam project now under way along the yellow River in north China is exceeded in size only by the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze in south China. In addition, the Chinese government intends to siphon water from the Yangtze—which has not yet run dry—and send it over by a canal system to the yellow River and Beijing, respectively. When it is running, the yellow River is already one of the most particle-laden in the world. Because of that, it is estimated that the Xiaolangdi dam would silt up within thirty years of completion. |

In the second century bc the river's Chinese name changed from Great River to yellow River when the sediment load increased tenfold as farmers began plowing up the highly erodible silty (loess) soils into the river's headwaters.
The earliest communities along the yellow River were situated on elevated terraces along tributaries. Only later, after the area became densely populared, did people crowd onto the floodplain. Extensive levees to protect farmlands and towns along the river kept floodwaters, and the sediment they carried, confined between the levees. |

Biotech proponents also admit that to persuade people to eat yellow rice may require an educational campaign. But if they are going to spend the time to educate, they can teach people to eat a red rice from India or brown rices, which contain more vitamin A than golden rice but without the risks. Or, as Michael Pollan asks is his New York Times Magazine article, "The Great yellow Hype," why not instead teach "people how to grow green vegetables [that are rich in vitamin A and other nutrients] on the margins of their rice fields, and maybe even give them the seeds to do so? |

During extreme conditions, such as a period of starvation, the body can use yellow marrow as a source of energy and fuel. Why there is an energetic connection—a conjugate relationship or match—between the Big Field and yellow marrow is one of the myriad questions about bioenergetics that remains to be answered.
In addition to the bioenergetic health ramifications of the Big Field, there is also a technical reason for making it a priority for correction. |

From that time on, Rex loved yellow legal pads, because on the days, and hours, that he believed himself to be an assistant district attorney, the fact that he had a legal pad proved that he was one. Rex carried legal pads with him everywhere and scribbled down copious notes about his activities and thoughts as he roamed the streets. He came into the clinic daily, picked up a legal pad, and left as quickly as he could. |

Q: I've always heard that white cheese is healthier than yellow. Is this correct?
A: No, both white and yellow are high-fat and contain the wrong kind of fat. Both have lots of salt and many calories. Neither contributes to good health. Typically, cheeses that are softer and have more moisture, such as cottage cheese, feta cheese, and goat cheese, are less acidic. Their acid content is on a par with a serving of meat, but their nutritional value still lags—less protein, more fat, and more salt.

This had the effeet of tinting the flour yellowish gray (the yellow is carotene) and shortening its shelf life, because the oil, once exposed to the air, soon oxidized—turned rancid. That's what people could see and smell, and they didn't like it. What their senses couldn't tell them, however, is that the germ contributed some of the most valuable nutrients to the flour, including much of its protein, folic acid, and other B vitamins; carotenes and other antioxidants; and omega-3 fatty acids, which are especially prone to rancidity. |

Most people will see a gray, silver, yellow, or silvery-white outline that is one-quarter inch to two inches wide. If the line you see is gray, you might think it is a shadow, but you'll soon realize that it doesn't really look like a shadow at all. What you're seeing is the "etheric" BioEM field, which is copying the shape of the body. The colors—gray, silver, or yellow—do not carry special diagnostic significance. Occasionally though, other colors will bleed into this field if the person you are reading has some level of weakness, particularly if that person is under chronic stress. |

| True or False? yellow or green mucus indicates a serious infection.
False: People who develop yellow or greenish mucus often rush to their doctors to ask for antibiotics because they believe that discolored mucus indicates a serious bacterial infection.
Colds can cause either clear, watery mucus or mucus that's thick and discolored. The coloration means that there's inflammation and more white blood cells. These immune cells are present in both viral and bacterial infections. |
