Milk won't help you lose weight, says dairy industry critic Robert Cohen

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

And now recently, they're focused on weight loss -- milk is a weight loss drink, which I find somewhat hilarious... Robert Cohen: Yeah, of course! You drink something with a lot of calories and a lot of fat in it with growth hormones, of course you're going to lose weight! Makes all the sense in the world. As a matter of fact, little infants, they're supposed to have half their weight after three months -- of course, they double their weight, don't they, after three months? A weight-loss product -- that's absurd!

"Miracle" weight loss drug Alli delivers more than you bargained for (diapers optional)

That's because it's a necessary component of weight loss. Mark my words: There is no way to lose weight without exercise unless you're dying from some disease. Exercise is essential -- it boosts muscle mass, increases metabolism and tells your body to shed fat. Sunlight also helps, too. Get more sunlight and your body will drop even more fat. Finally, you've simply got to stop eating refined sugars, processed carbs and hydrogenated fats. That means no soft drinks, cookies, cake, sweets, white flour, white bread, sugary cereal and other such foods. EVER. Yes, ever.
Nutritional deficiencies The dirty-your-britches side effect isn't the only thing about Alli that makes me wonder what kind of desperate weight loss newbies are going to pop these pills: I'm also concerned about the fact that the drug interferes with the absorption of essential fatty acids. Given that most overweight people are already extremely deficient in omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and other healthy oils, this Alli drug is likely to put them in an even worse state of deficiency. The drug works by interfering with the digestion of dietary fats, you see.

Hoodia Gordonii emerges as natural appetite suppressant with weight loss potential

Two pounds of fat a week is twice the weight loss rate attempted by most weight loss strategies. It's aggressive weight loss. It means you could lose eight pounds a month, or as much as 100 pounds a year. Eight pounds a month is extraordinary. Most people who are serious about weight loss are thrilled with one pound a week. Yet people are apparently achieving twice that with hoodia. The great hoodia shortage As you might expect from the situation, there's skyrocketing demand for hoodia (and most people still haven't heard of it yet!). Hoodia plants are extremely difficult to come by.

FTC sues Kevin Trudeau over weight loss claims while ignoring Big Pharma monopoly pricing

A favorite FTC target But the real story is not whether Trudeau is wrong or right about weight loss, it's about the selective enforcement of weight loss claims by the FTC. Trudeau is a favorite target of the FTC, and he's been sued before over health claims for his coral calcium products. The FTC even forced him into a settlement where he could no longer sell nutritional products. That's what eventually led Trudeau to write his Natural Cures books, which are now probably the most commercially successful books ever sold via infomercials.

I find it interesting that this weight loss drug makes adults need to wear diapers. It's quite appropriate, actually, since people who take these weight loss drugs are acting like babies about their own health. Americans just need to grow up and start acting like adults for a change. Put down the ice cream, turn off the TV and go bicycling for goodness sake. No, your mommie isn't around to MAKE you do it, you have to do it all by yourself. (And take those training wheels off the bike while you're at it.) Tie your shoes! Clean up your room! Don't eat the entire box of ice cream! Jeez...

Alli weight loss drug has disgusting side effects and may block fat-soluble vitamins

That's the same amount of weight loss that you could experience simply by eating about a thousand fewer calories a week, which comes down to just a few cans of soda per week. By the way, that weight loss reversed itself as soon as people went off the drug, meaning they gained it right back. Still, the drug is being heralded as a potential blockbuster because so many Americans are desperate to lose weight and it seems that they will do almost anything to accomplish that goal. My question is, will they tolerate soiled underwear to accomplish it?

Consumer Alert: Hoodia Gordonii weight loss pills scam exposed by independent investigation

Truth Publishing believes that the Pure Hoodia company is operating a hoodia scam, deceiving customers on multiple levels, and flouting the law in order to make a fast buck by riding the wave of popularity for a weight loss product. They are, in effect, preying upon the desperation of people who are trying to lose weight with hoodia gordonii as an appetite suppressant, and in doing so, they are discrediting the entire hoodia industry.

Alli weight loss drug has disgusting side effects and may block fat-soluble vitamins

It causes merely one pound of weight loss a month (and that's if you actually believe the clinical trials), yet it creates considerable health risks to those who take the drug. Again, those risks are widespread nutritional deficiencies that exacerbate existing deficiencies and can lead to serious degenerative disease. The answer is the same answer that applies to most of the decisions made in conventional medicine today: A new over-the-counter weight loss drug would generate potentially billions of dollars of profit for Big Pharma.
That's one of the most common side effects of this drug. People actually spotted their clothes with uncontrollable anal discharges. I don't know about you, but to me that's not worth losing a pound a month.

Diet Pill Supplement Scam: Two-Thirds of Hoodia Gordonii Pills Sold In the United States Are Counterfeit

Healthy weight loss should never exceed two pounds of body fat per week. Any weight loss beyond that is likely to include loss of lean body mass (muscle) and skeletal mass (bone density). Most nutritionists recommend sustained weight loss of no more than 1-2 pounds of body fat per week. Full hydration (drinking lots of water) during any weight loss effort is very important. Don't fall for the trap of trying to lose weight through dehydration and starvation, aided by an appetite suppressant herb. This can be medically dangerous.

Why weight loss requires strength training, even in women and seniors

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
See article keywords and concepts
One is if you just starve yourself and you start losing lean body mass, then that counts as weight loss. But you've done yourself no good whatsoever, because now you've actually lowered your metabolism. The scale says, "Hey! You lost another three pounds!" But it could be 2 lbs of fat and 1 lb of muscle, and that's not a good situation to be in. You want to lose maybe 2.9 lbs of fat and 0.1 lbs of muscle, or maybe 3 lbs of fat and no muscle. But to do that, you've got to challenge your muscular system through some weight bearing exercise.

In contrast, take a look at the actual weight of the Hoodoba capsules from an honest company selling genuine hoodia (see photo on right). Here, we see the Hoodoba company's capsules weighing 6.1 grams. Subtracting the weight of the empty capsules (.9), that leaves us with 5.2 grams (5200mg) of powder in 10 capsules, or 520mg in each capsule. This means the Hoodoba company is actually over-delivering, giving customers MORE hoodia than required.
The Pure Hoodia capsules weighed only 3.8 grams, indicating a 25% shortage of hoodia powder. (Click image to see full-size.)

Trim Spa weight loss supplement is formulated with effective ingredients

So getting some chocolate into your brain, so to speak, is a good way to elevate your mood and give you the motivation you need to continue with your weight loss efforts. It's another excellent ingredient in the Trim Spa recipe. The next ingredient is green tea extract, and my opinion on this ingredient is mixed. I think green tea is an outstanding herb for weight loss and it is also well documented as an anti-cancer herb. But there is caffeine in the green tea, and thus there's caffeine in the Trim Spa recipe. Caffeine is the only chemical compound I don't like in this formula.

Healing with water: the work of "water cure" pioneer Dr. Batmanghelidj

There's another fascinating point on chronic dehydration and weight loss that's worth mentioning here, too: many people who are attempting to lose weight end up in a state of chronic dehydration because they don't want to drink water for fear that it will add "water weight" to their bodies. They actually impair their body's ability to metabolize fat because they're afraid to drink enough water on a regular basis. In reality, being fully hydrated is a prerequisite to weight loss. If you want to lose weight, you have to give your body enough water so that it's no longer in a state of emergency.

Hoodia gordonii helps for weight loss, but isn't a miracle solution

Others say it completely stopped their appetite, and they are well on their way to weight loss. However, the more common response I hear is that hoodia takes the edge off appetite, but doesn't take it away completely. You still have to exercise discipline to lose weight while taking hoodia. One of the active ingredients in the herb is a chemical compound called P57, which is thought to be at least partly responsible for the appetite-suppressing effects of hoodia gordonii.

Dr. Gundry's Diet Evolution: Turn Off the Genes That Are Killing You - And Your Waistline - And Drop the weight for Good

Dr. Steven R. Gundry
See book keywords and concepts
Until I discovered how to communicate with my genes, I couldn't seem to deal with the extra weight, high cholesterol, arthritis, and tendency to diabetes-the very same health issues many of you are facing. One more claim to fame: I was the medical consultant and also had a bit part in the movie The Doctor, starring William Hurt, about a heart surgeon who changes his ways when he develops a potentially life-threatening disease. As it turns out, the premise of the film couldn't have been more prophetic. Surgeons are trained to fix problems, usually with an operation.
Once you've achieved your goal weight and your health has improved, you'll learn how you can offset the occasional brief departure from the program without resetting the destructive genetic programs. This phase lasts the rest of your life. The three phases of Diet Evolution are designed to teach you how to change your habits slowly and carefully, almost imperceptibly, one step at a time. While they have distinct objectives, the three phases work as a continuum, enabling you to gradually evolve your diet and behavior.
So let's begin by understanding how you must change the messages you've been sending your genes these many years, so you can convince them that: You Don't Have to Store Fat for Winter Phase 1, known as the Teardown phase, will accomplish this by significantly changing your eating habits to kick-start your weight loss. You'll do this by concentrating on protein foods such as meat, poultry, fish, shellfish, fresh cheeses, seitan, tempeh, soy products, and as many leafy greens and other vegetables as you like.
Protein has another distinct benefit in the Teardown phase and is the secret behind initial rapid weight loss on the Atkins, South Beach, and other high-protein diets. Compared to fat and carbohydrate, protein is the least efficient source of energy, requiring a tremendous amount of digestive work and breakdown of complex protein molecules into amino acids. In fact, Arctic explorers in the nineteenth century who had to resort to eating primarily lean rabbits and rodents actually starved to death, a phenomenon termed "rabbit starvation" or "protein starvation.
Although Lynn was 6 feet tall, fat still constituted more than 51 percent of her weight. Her story and appearance screamed metabolic syndrome! Lynn's lab work confirmed that she was insulin resistant, and her triglycerides were a whopping 182. As with most of my patients, her various doctors had told her that her cholesterol of 128 was spectacularly low because of the statin drugs they were giving her, but they hadn't bothered to mention that her HDL was 33, which is dangerously low.
They did their job, now they're excess baggage, dragging down the shuttle with their weight. Off they go! Think of your teenager as the space shuttle and you and your mate as the two booster rockets. Speaking of teenagers, why are they growing up so fast? Just ask your genes. Early human's diet prompted slow growth and late menarche. Even in 1900, the average age at which a girl began to menstruate was 18.23 Such a diet benefited an individual's health and longevity, but the overall imperative to reproduce genes rapidly took a back seat.
