It is lack of psychiatric treatment and the use of substances that makes people with mental illness violent. But this is also true of the general population: while people with mental illness and substance abuse problems are five times more likely to become violent than the general population, people with substance abuse problems and no psychiatric problems are three times more likely to be violent.47
The primary risk, of course, for the mentally ill is suicide. The rates of suicide for people with severe mental illness are astonishing. About 1 in 10 people with schizophrenia kill themselves. |

I suggested we try the Ritalin again, and it really toned down his violent outbursts. He was so relieved; he said he'd forgotten that he could feel calm and focused.
Around the same time, I was immersed in studying severe aggression—researching, treating, and writing about what made patients of all sorts so violent. I stumbled across a study by Frank Elliott, then chairman of the neurology department at the University of Pennsylvania. Within a. large population of prisoners, he discovered that more than 80 percent of them had had serious learning problems as children. |

If someone becomes violent under the influence of beer, it is due to reasons similar to a drug user becoming violent under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs.
Apart from their mind-altering effects, hops are known to work as an anti-aphrodisiac, suppressing sexual drive and performance in men. Hops contain the female sex hormones daidzein and genistein, which are generally used to fatten calves, sheep, and chickens. |

| People with severe mental illness are much more likely to hurt themselves, or to be hurt by others, than they are to exert violent attacks on others. A 2005 study showed that more than one-quarter of people with severe mental illness had been victims of a violent crime in the past year—eleven times the rate of the general population.45 A British study showed that psychiatric patients are six times more likely to be murdered than the average person.46 Conversely, the violence that the mentally ill perpetrate on others has been enormously exaggerated by the media. |

Metropolitan Police Department in an attempt to reduce violent crime. Four thousand people agreed to meditate on the problem—that's four thousand personal BioEM fields focusing their mental energy on a large, complex set of energies associated with criminal tendencies, pockets of social oppression, and so on. The result: violent crime in Washington, D.C, dropped by an unprecedented 25 percent in the ensuing days.
In subsequent chapters, I will teach you how to employ different ways of thinking to direct BioEM energies to improve the wellbeing of you and your loved ones. |

Medical authorities can hardly say they are "shocked" by this violent behavior. After all, the same pattern of violence among antidepressant takers has been observed, documented and published in numerous previous cases.
How to stop the violence
Following this recent episode of violence, some Americans are renewing calls for gun control. But I ask, isn't it time we looked at antidepressants control? Why do we continue to drug up young people in this country with psychotropic drugs that we know are closely associated with violent outbursts? |

My residents presented a twenty-two-year-old patient who had been in and out of the hospital for bouts of violent behavior. He mentioned that he had been on Ritalin as a hyperactive teenager but had long since been taken off the medicine. It was believed that kids simply grew out of their hyperactivity after adolescence and that it was dangerous to keep them on stimulants into adulthood, for fear they'd become addicted. I suggested we try the Ritalin again, and it really toned down his violent outbursts. He was so relieved; he said he'd forgotten that he could feel calm and focused. |

The logic goes:
Animals are violent, humans are animals, and therefore humans are violent.
No! Humans are not "stuck" with an innate, viciously competitive nature any more than we are stuck with genes that make us sick or make us violent. Chimps, who are the closest to humans genetically, offer evidence that violence is not a necessary part of our biology. One species of chimps, the bonobos, create peaceful communities with co-dominant males and females in charge. |

While these findings support links between violent video game use and short-term aggression, Kieffer says it is too soon to know whether this aggression will continue over the long term. "What's lacking is longitudinal data to suggest that [children] become more violent over time," he says.
Kimberly Thompson, a Harvard University researcher specializing in these types of issues, says that data isn't likely to arrive any time soon. "What's really amazing is that we aren't doing those [long-term] studies," she says. "We don't have the funds to do them. |

Once he started taking Prozac, the child began having violent dreams of killing his classmates until he himself was shot. The nightmares seemed so real that, upon waking, the boy began refusing to attend school. He was taken off the drug and hospitalized until his violent thoughts subsided. Three weeks after his discharge, another physician, who was unaware of previous events, put him back on Prozac, and the boy once again became suicidal. |

The Japanese may have coined karoshi, but the United States has coined "going postal" as a result of this country's experience of an extreme and violent subset of burnout. This particular manifestation of burnout, in which its victim becomes victimizer in a return to the workplace with loaded weapons, is linked to service- and industrial-sector work. Despite the high-profile nature of this type of burnout, highly trained professionals are considered even more prime for work-related burnout, albeit theirs is usually of a nonviolent nature. |

Is it any wonder that meat eaters are the most angry, violent and war-mongering individuals in society today?
Atrocious conditions for chickens
Like pigs, chickens grow up in a similar state of disarray, forced to live through nearly intolerable conditions. Approximately six billion "broiler" chickens are produced and sold each year by the factory farmer to sources like supermarkets and fast food chicken restaurants. As many as 60% of supermarket chickens are infected with Salmonella enteritis. |

They often end up thinking violent thoughts, and acting out violent actions, such as killing people. This is not a good way to treat depression, especially when people who are depressed could more readily address that problem through nutrition.
Some regular exposure to natural sunlight could help, for example. Phototherapy, or light therapy, can have a dramatic impact on depression. Consumption of superfoods, such as what's found in Berry Green, is also outstanding for treating depression. Depression is not a "brain chemistry imbalance. |

Columbia University's New York State Psychiatric Institute and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine give 100 males -- mostly African-American and Hispanic, all between the ages of six and 10 and all the younger brothers of juvenile delinquents -- 10 milligrams of fenfluramine (fen-fen) per kilogram of body weight in order to test the theory that low serotonin levels are linked to violent or aggressive behavior. Parents of the participants received $125 each, including a $25 Toys 'R' Us gift certificate (Goliszek). |

The very next day, we published a report about the anti-depressant drug Paxil doubling the risk of violent behavior. (See http://www.newstarget.com/020406.html ) In that article, I stated, "This finding helps explain why school shootings are almost always conducted by children who are taking antidepressants. We also know that SSRIs cause children to disconnect from reality. When you combine that with a propensity for violence, you create a dangerous recipe for school shootings and other adolescent violence. |
| Those lacking keen observation skills are quick to blame guns for this tragedy, but others who are familiar with the history of such violent acts by young males instantly recognize a more sinister connection: A history of treatment with psychiatric drugs for depression and ADHD.
It all started in Columbine, Colorado, when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold massacred their way into the history books on April 20, 1999 by killing 12 and wounding 23 people. |
| On September 11, 2006, I reported on the link between antidepressant drugs and violent behavior yet again. The result we're seeing now is mass killings. Elsewhere around the world, where children aren't doped up on all these drugs, we don't see this kind of behavior. This is what happens when you change children's brain chemistry; you get these results... |
| Nutrition is the single most powerful factor determining healthy moods and behavior, and virtually all young men who commit violent acts (including the vast majority of those imprisoned in the U.S. today) suffer from wild nutritional deficiencies.
Robert Hawkins could have been a healthy, stable and normal kid with the help of some real food, real nutrition and real love from a supporting family. Instead, he lived on junk food, worked at McDonald's and took medication pills as directed by his psychiatric doctor. |

If this violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act passes and gets signed into law, there are all sorts of government actions against the People that should technically be considered acts of terrorism. For example, armed FDA raids on vitamin companies would clearly qualify as acts of terrorism. Will FDA officials be arrested, charged with terrorist crimes, and shipped off to Guantanamo? Only in your wildest dreams...

(See our previous report on this topic at http://www.newstarget.com/022308.html ) Even more interestingly, Glenn Ivey merely thinking about threatening parents who don't get their children vaccinated would, all by itself, be considered a terrorist "thoughtcrime" act.
Glenn Ivey, of course, will never be prosecuted as a terrorist under this law. |

It's a new law called the violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act, and it is worded in a clever way that could allow the U.S. government to arrest and incarcerate any individual who speaks out against the Bush Administration, the war on Iraq, the Department of Homeland Security or any government agency (including the FDA). The law has already passed the House on a traitorous vote of 405 to 6, and it is now being considered in the Senate where a vote is imminent. |

The video clearly shows that:
Meyer was assaulted by six officers, thrown to the ground and attacked with a violent weapon.
Meyer volunteered to leave the room if the officers would let him go.
Meyer did not strike any officer at any time. His hands were always in a defensive position.
Meyer attempted to flee his assailants (as any rational person would).
Meyer committed no crime whatsoever. At no point did any law enforcement officer accuse Meyer of committing any crime other than "resisting arrest" (which is not a crime when the arrest is illegal in the first place, see below). |
