John's Wort, a medicinal herb frequently blamed by conventional medicine for interfering with prescription drugs, is more effective than a popular antidepressant drug in treating depression. The study found that the herb is actually much more effective than antidepressant drugs, since more than half of those taking St. John's Wort in the trial experienced improvements in symptoms of mental depression. Conversely, only 1/3 of those taking the popular antidepressant drug showed such improvements. |

How do you make healthy people profitable when there's so much money in treating disease and chronic illness and so much money in addicting people to lifetime requirements for prescription drugs? How do you generate profits off of healthy people, as a nation?
Let's face it: If people are healthy, especially well into their old age, they are no longer customers of those clinics being constructed all over this country. They are no longer customers of Walgreens, CVS or the Wal-Mart pharmacy. They are no longer customers of surgeons, physicians, foot specialists or Alzheimer's doctors. |
| They're operating in a disease economy, and in a disease economy, it costs way too much for workers because workers are diseased, and you have to cover the costs of treating all that disease so you can have health insurance for all those workers. The United State's health insurance costs are the highest of any nation in the world.
Not only do we have workers who are under-educated in the United States, they are also over-diseased. We have a disease economy, so we think we're creating abundance by selling each other expensive treatments, products and services for disease. |

Food to Avoid
The first step in treating IBS is to determine whether your problem is actually an allergy to food. See Food Allergies, and follow the elimination diet there. If you can trace your symptoms to a particular food or foods, make it a priority to avoid those allergens. Keep a close eye on how dairy products affect you; lactose is often a trigger for IBS-like symptoms.
Wheat and sugar products are common offenders as well.
Saturated hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated fats disturb the intestines and are hard to digest. Stay away from red meat, butter, margarine, and fried foods. |
| This requires treating the underlying cause(s). One of the obvious steps is to eliminate or cut down on simple sugars, alcohol, and so on, which feed yeast. Also, direct therapy that destroys Candida works to assist the body in getting Candida levels down to a controllable level. Examples include oregano oil and garlic. However, many chronic cases require a change in the biological terrain. By this, we mean the state and the health of the digestive tract, the organs of detoxification and elimination, the immune system, and hormone balance. |

Treat the problem, not the symptom
Naturopaths aren't treating the water -- the symptom -- and this confuses conventional medicine to a great degree. They don't understand how someone can treat cancer without treating the tumor itself. Because conventional docs think the symptom is the disease or the disorder. But naturopathic medicine sees the cancer tumor as only a symptom of a much deeper problem. Just like the water dripping into the home is only a symptom of a broken roof in need of repair, a cancer tumor is only a symptom of a serious underlying metabolic problem. |

We invariably end up only treating the symptom. treating a symptom is like taking the battery out of a smoke alarm when it has sounded instead of looking for the source and cause of the smoke.
Is it possible the headache we feel is signaling that something is out of balance with the body's metabolism? Or could it have something to do with our emotional state? What is something as simple and basic as indigestion telling us? The body is talking to us; but are we listening? Are we trying to correct the underlying causes? We should be. |

They are still treating the water rather than the dam by treating the tumors rather than the underlying problem.
Conventional cancer treatments actually harm the patient and the patient's immune system, making it even more difficult to overcome cancer in the future. Chemotherapy harms the immune system and impairs organs such as the brain, liver, and the heart. It's sort of like using TNT to blow out the water leaking through the dam. You destroy the dam at the same time. It leaves the patient unable to stop the progression of the cancer. |

Varicose Veins
Two primary kinds of blood vessels exist in the circulatory system. Arteries are one kind; they deliver blood away from the heart to the rest of the body. Veins are the second type of blood vessel, and their function is to conduct blood back to the heart. Of the two kinds of vessels, veins have the more difficult task. Unlike the arteries, they cannot rely upon the heart's direct pumping motion to propel the blood to its destination. |

Good health care cannot be measured by how much money is being spent on treating symptoms of disease. treating the symptoms of an illness inevitably requires further treatments, because the origins of disease are ignored and become worse if left unattended. According to the premise of modern medicine, to "successfully" treat symptoms, which implies suppressing the body's own healing efforts, a patient needs to take recourse to poisonous drugs, radiation, or surgery. |

Hahnemann had no doubt that his method of treating like with like would surpass and supersede orthodox methods, which he termed 'allopathy'?treatment with opposites'—and derided for opposing nature's own healing process and thus depleting the body. But he intended to go beyond merely assisting 'diseased nature' down her own 'very imperfect' path.9 Hahnemann reasoned that the artificial diseases reliably and briefly induced by his 'proven'—experimentally tested—medicines more powerfully engaged the patient's vital force. |
| And it is no coincidence that Busschof's enthusiasm for moxabustion sprang from its efficacy in treating the gout, nor that his disaffection for western practices crystallized around its particular failings in relation to that condition. Gout struck the middle and upper classes at mid-life; it was painful and incapacitating, but rarely fatal; its precise nature and definition had been noisily debated since classical times; and there was no accepted consensus on its causes or mode of action. |
| Until the late eighteenth century, all medicine was largely subjective—rooted in the patient's experience of his or her illness, and in the healer's experience recognizing and treating similar constellations of symptoms and circumstance. With the 'rise of science' and the professionalization of orthodox medicine came a rejection of purely experiential and empirical knowledge. This rejection began with the exclusion of the patient's experience of disease, the diminution of the patient's authority over his or her own bodily knowledge. It eventually extended even to the experience of physicians. |
| When the mainstream press started reporting Chinese success in treating the disease, Western physicians faced not only a loss of market share, but a loss of face: a defeat at the hands of a medical system they saw as the superstitious quackery of an inferior culture. And then, to heap indignity upon injury, their own patients and parliamentarians called upon the orthodox medical profession to validate this foreign remedy through scientific examination. |

The Usui system of reiki is an ancient holistic method of treating the mind, body and soul. Reiki uses the 'universal life force' that followers believe surrounds us, by transmitting its energy to mobilise the body's healing resources into reversing disease. Reiki's 'energy work' attempts to accelerate the body's ability to heal itself and correct the imbalances which lead to disease.

Millions of Americans have asthma and allergies, often triggered by such airborne substances as mold, dust mites or pollen. The immune system identifies these normally harmless substances as dangerous and releases inflammatory chemicals that cause sneezing, wheezing, congestion and other symptoms. |

The psychiatric industry does not promote nutrition as a method for preventing or treating depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD or other mental or behavioral conditions. Instead, it works to keep consumers ignorant of such solutions and pretends that these diseases are caused by "brain chemistry imbalances" that can only be corrected with synthetic patented chemicals (pharmaceuticals). Essentially, modern psychiatry believes that all such disorders are caused by a pharmaceutical deficiency. |
