What they neglect to mention is that their suppliers, the suppliers of the raw material used in pet foods—the meat and fats—can add ethoxyquin before they ship it to the pet food company. The pet food company does not need to state this on the label. Pet food companies simply have to state what they have added, not what their suppliers have added to the raw material. If you ever see this preservative listed on a can or bag of food, stay away from that product.
Fats in Pet Food
Fats can be sprayed directly on pet food or mixed with the other ingredients. |

The salt-ulcer link: H. pylori becomes more virulent in the presence of higher salt concentrations, according to a study presented at the conference of the American Society for Microbiology. Researchers discovered that in the presence of salt, H. pylori is more likely to produce proteins that cause it to be more dangerous to humans, and more likely to produce ulcers.
"Apparently H. pylori closely monitors the diets of those people whom it infects," said lead researcher Dr. |

With the industry's purchasing power, "we can force suppliers to generate environmentally sensitive products." Major institutions, government agencies and entire industries can create markets for non-toxic products and drive down costs for bio-based plastics, green chemistry, renewable energy and other solutions for the future. The billion-dollar cosmetics industry, of course, could be a major force for positive

At that time, Truth Publishing purchased several hoodia products, conducted interviews, and began listing hoodia suppliers known to offer honest products. At the time, we were convinced this included Pure Hoodia, Inc. To further verify this, Truth Publishing attempted to locate laboratories in the U.S. that could conduct specimen authentication testing, but no such labs could be found (we called dozens).
As the popularity of hoodia skyrocketed since mid-2004, the bulk materials hoodia suppliers in South Africa were getting squeezed. |

We go to pristine suppliers. We go in and get every single company that's a supplier to send us batch after batch after batch. Then we get them independently tested. Enzymatic Therapy has its own lab facility. The lab tests parts per million of metals and bugs and all the things it needs to do. It took us a year and a half to find the suppliers to do it.
Mike: Wow.
Dr. Weiss: Because, everybody's going to say, "Oh, we have pristine waters! We're here! We're here!" But the proof is in what's going on in the in-house facility to make sure it is. Frankly, very few cut the mustard. |

This bottled water issue brings to light the apparent deceptive practices of some of the largest suppliers of bottled water products. By avoiding the honest labeling of the source of their water while relying on snow-capped mountain imagery, these companies quietly mislead consumers into thinking their water products are from a pristine, natural source such as a mountain spring. |

I know all the manufacturers and all the raw material suppliers pretty much. I get certificates of analysis. I look at them. What is it? What is in it? How pure is it? That's the first thing.
Second, I only work with people who I trust. I work with a handful of people who have known me for years and years, and they do it that way. A few times, they goofed up and they got it thrown back at them. I can design something, but if that person is not going to build it the way I designed it, then it is not what I want.
So first, I have to know what I want to design. |

Fry & Sons were sole suppliers of chocolate to the Royal Navy. sold the traditional chocolate drink. In time, the Cadbury family expanded the chocolate side of the business, and in 1853 scored a coup of their own when they obtained the royal privilege as purveyors of chocolate to Queen Victoria. Cadbury's greatest commercial triumph came in 1866. |

Before deciding which model to buy, ask suppliers of health equipment, and search the Internet. In my view, using one of these machines once or twice a day is a good health investment.
Pulsed Electromagnetic Therapy
The use of pulsed electromagnetic fields is a relatively new form of physical thereapy in North America, although it has been used in Europe for many years. Pulsed magnetic fields are different than permanent magnetic fields and are reported to produce much superior physical health benefits, without negative side effects. |

During the same period, fat consumption remained the same, whereas consumption of cereals and potatoes, which are major suppliers of vegetable protein, decreased by 45 percent. Therefore, fats, carbohydrates, and vegetable proteins cannot be considered as causes of coronary heart disease. This leaves meat as the main factor responsible for the dramatic upsurge of this degenerative blood vessel disease. |

One of those suppliers in China also processed pharmaceuticals and could have been to blame. But they would have had to know what was going on in the United States to alter the product as they did.
Strangely, the Washington Postreport stated that BotanicLab had conducted tests on its own in 2002 and determined bulk herbs coming into the country were free of pharmaceuticals, while packaged products leaving the Brea facility were adulterated. |
| Knowing that indole-3 carbinol and diindolymethane are vulnerable to degradation from exposure to light, it is strange that suppliers of these supplements don't encapsulate the products in opaque capsules.

They range from the predictable (martial arts suppliers, Chinese markets and pharmacies) to the unexpected (supermarket chains and veterinary supply shops). Certainly, every major US pharmacy chain carries at least the balm itself, as do Boots and similar European chains; many also carry spinoff products. Global sales of Tiger Balm and associated products in 2002 topped $35 million.
The products themselves continue to be manufactured entirely in East and South-East Asia (specifically, in China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand). |

TNS machines can be borrowed or hired from some hospitals or medical suppliers. Proper instruction is essential to know where the pads should be placed and how to operate the machine. A TNS machine should not be used by people with heart pacemakers as it can interfere with the pacemaker's performance.
Magneton Therapy or Bio-energetic Acupuncture
You will have learned at school about the earth's magnetic field and the pull of the North and South Poles. And, like most of us, you probably have not thought too much about it since. But perhaps magnetic therapy can improve asthma. |
| Most herbal suppliers provide combination formulas developed specially for asthma, which contain a number of herbs. Here is an example of the constituents of one: passionflower, common thyme, grindelia, euphorbia, ascorbic acid, Vitamin A acetate. Another recognised herbal mixture readily available contains proportions of horehound, euphorbia, senega, grindelia, liquorice and elecampane.
Horseradish and garlic tablets, available in odourless form, are recommended to help eliminate excessive mucus. |
| Don't start on a cocktail of pills otherwise you may never know just which one is really doing you good. Most suppliers are diligent in eliminating as many possible allergenic substances from their products but some can contain impurities.
'Bargain' products should be considered with caution. There is usually a reason why they are so cheap—they are not ultimately a bargain if quality is lacking. Rely on reputable brands and take advice from registered practitioners with approved qualifications. |

| All chain store or national supermarkets stock foods shipped in from distant suppliers. This means the fruit and vegetables are picked before they have ripened and matured to their full nutrient potential. Local farmers' markets, however, pick the food fresh and ripened and deliver it fresh every day or two.

Because of the scare, nonorganic sprout suppliers frequently try to "sanitize" their product by bleaching the seeds from which sprouts grow with chlorine. "It's overkill," said Pettersen. "Chlorine is a very damaging molecule to the human body and much more of a concern than a theoretical exposure to a small amount of bacteria."
Pettersen advocates eating organic sprouts to avoid the chlorine issue altogether. I agree, though I'd probably add that people who are immunocompromised might want to avoid any food that has even a possibility of a little bacteria. |

The sole suppliers of lindane since the early part of this century have been the U.S. firm Chemtura, which markets it in bulk, and Gustafson Chemicals, which sells lindane-treated seeds. Gustafson is a Texas-based subsidiary of the multinational chemical and pharmaceutical giant Bayer, headquartered in Germany. Lindane was banned in Germany in 1996 (prior to being banned throughout the EU in 2001). |
| Her seed customers fled to other organic suppliers. When I spoke with her again three years later, she told me that she had been trying, slowly, to reconstitute her organic crop by letting the ground lay fallow in other words, not planting anything. Krause told me she was attempting to breed out those genes left behind in the soil, with the aide of "new gene stock from Uruguay and Argentina" supplied to her by the botany department at Iowa State University. She was hoping to regain the organic integrity of her identity-preserved seed crop and lure back her customers. |

Eventually, the crisis will reach a fever pitch when lenders, especially key suppliers of funds, become unhinged by the gridlock and panic. Many of those institutions will in turn face an abrupt, unexpected struggle for their own survival. Paradoxically, those at the center of the credit-creation process generally operate with far more leverage than do the firms to which they lend. |
| Individuals and businesses will withdraw cash or hurriedly transfer funds to the dwindling universe of institutions deemed safe, while wholesale suppliers of equity or borrowed money will be even quicker to turn off the tap. At least some of the $2 trillion held in money market funds will anxiously flee to safer pastures as the prices of one or more pools fall below par— "breaks the buck"—because of shaky markets and short-maturity holdings that turn out to be riskier than expected. |
| Soon, businesses whose fortunes were tied directly to housing, such as real estate agencies, contractors, building materials suppliers, and mortgage brokers, began to see revenues suffer. Many scaled back operations, and some shut their doors completely, adding to the expanding ranks of unemployed homeowners.
A broad range of other industries also felt the ripple effect. Cash-strapped consumers cut back on discretionary purchases like Starbucks's lattes, meals at casual dining restaurants, theme park outings, and movie tickets. |
| Virtually any business or industry might end up in dire straits, if not direcdy, then from a domino-like collapse following the failure of key suppliers, credit providers, and other counterparties. Under the circumstances, efforts that address the revenue side of the personal finance equation should include constant networking, updating resumes, developing preplanned job searches, engaging in ongoing marketplace assessments, and taking concrete steps to enhance and expand skill sets. |
