The American Cancer society.

| By spending a few dollars on disease prevention today, we are avoiding the long-term expenditure of a lot more money taking care of a society full of criminals.
Nutrition is a great investment, and preventing disease has a big payoff for society. I say we pay close attention to these studies and find ways to provide better nutrition to our children, our expectant mothers and our general population so that we can prevent these diseases before they become problems for society. |

 American Cancer society stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the benefits of vitamin D supplements in cancer prevention, the Canadian Cancer society is launching a program to make sure every Canadian citizen receives a level of vitamin D sufficient to prevent most cancers, including breast cancer.
The U.S., in contrast, has no interest in preventing cancer... even when a simple, virtually free substance like vitamin D could drop national cancer rates by more than 75 percent. |

 Chumscrubber reflects the tragedy of modern society
The reason I'm so impressed by "The Chumscrubber" is because the actions and dialogue of the characters reflect a lot of what I see in society today. I see people who are overmedicated, lack clarity and can't really communicate on an authentic level. Just as reflected in the film, I see a lot of people projecting this false image that everything is okay. Internally, their world is really falling apart. It's a mess. They have serious emotional disorders that have yet to be expressed, much less actually healed. |

 American Cancer society opposes vitamin D
This research on vitamin D is such good news that the American Cancer society, of course, had to say something against it. An ACS spokesperson, Marji McCullough, strategic director of nutritional epidemiology for the American Cancer society, flatly stated that nobody should take supplements to prevent cancer.
If it seems surprising to you that the American Cancer society -- which claims to be against cancer -- would dissuade people from taking supplements that slash their cancer risk by 77 percent, then you don't know much about the ACS. |

| I see the movie as a sadly accurate mirror of what's wrong with society today -- not only with parent-child communication, but also with mass overmedication and the fact that so many Americans have isolated themselves in their own busy lives without even taking the time to look at what's important or to express themselves in an authentic way.
Interestingly, one character in the film, the town mayor played by Ralph Fiennes, ultimately breaks through and expresses himself in an authentic way. |
