Ironically, watery eyes may acaren't sticky enough to stay in place
SIGN OF THE TIMES
If you have dry eyes that treatment doesn't help, blink a lot, have other uncontrollable facial spasms, and have trouble keeping your eyes open even when you're not tired or bored, you may have the telltale signs of a rare neurological disease called Meige's syndrome. If your chin thrusts forward when you blink, it's a surefire sign of Meige's, also known as hemifacial spasm and Brueghel's syndrome.
Meige's syndrome, which tends to strike people in middle age, affects more women than men. |
| Unfortunately, half-and-half nails are common signs of chronic kidney disease.
If, however, your nail is almost totally an opaque white color, you may have a form of leukonychia (see White Marks, above) called Terry's nails. With Terry's nails, which usually affect all your nails, the nails are whitish from the cuticle to almost the tip, at which point there's a dark pink or brown band. Sometimes the nails are so white and TERRY'S NAILS opaque that the moon of the nail—called the lunula—disappears. The white and brown colors are in the nail bed, not on the nail itself. |

Butterfly Mask
A butterfly-shaped rash on the face—medically known as malar erythema—is the hallmark of lupus—medically known as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)—a very serious, chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease. (See Appendix I.) In fact, about half of people with SLE have this characteristic rash, which is referred to as "the butterfly rash of lupus" or the "mask of lupus. |

1|P SIGNIFICANT FACTS: Little-known, often weird, and occasionally useful facts or stats about various body parts or signs.
Significant Fact
People of European and African descent usually have wet, sticky, brown earwax; those of Native American and Asian descent tend to have dry, brittle, gray, or beige earwax. Women with wet earwax appear to be at increased risk for breast cancer. Indeed, Japanese women with European-like wet earwax have a higher rate of breast cancer than Japanese women with Asian-type dry earwax. |

There are a lot of signs.
The first warning signs of the bursting housing bubble
First, remember that things get overheated when the general public begins to spend money on investment vehicles with the idea of quickly doubling their money. When enough people get into speculation, it is a sure sign of a bubble. When people aren't buying a house for a place to live or as a long-term investment vehicle to rent out, you know the market is overheated. When you hear a lot of people talking about "making money on their house", then you know there's a big bubble. So, that's one interesting sign. |

I've been watching this thing for quite some time, and the signs are now becoming very, very clear. Actually, I've been watching this thing for a couple of years. I saw it get overheated. I was seeing it in my own city. When you see property prices going up 25 to 30 percent a year, for six years in a row, that's pure speculation. House values don't normally go up that high. There's no justifiable reason. The population isn't increasing 30 percent a year. There's not that many more people bidding for the same house. There's something else at work if prices are skyrocketing that quickly. |
| Low-interest, easy-qualification home loans
So far, that's two signs. The first sign, remember, was what I call "the word on the street." Everybody thinks they're going to get rich by investing in houses. The second sign was when the monthly fee you get in terms of rent runs below your monthly mortgage payment. So, what's the third sign that there's a housing bubble in this country? It's found on the lending side.
You see, lenders are getting very creative. They only make money when they lend more money to more people, right? |
| It's not very scientific, but there are far more scientific signs to be seen.
Normally, when you buy a house as a landlord, the rent that the renter pays you covers your mortgage costs, plus a little bit more. That's what happens in a normal, healthy economy. Let's say you go out and buy a home valued at $200,000 and you rent it out for $1,500 a month. That $1,500 a month should cover your mortgage payment, plus a little bit more for maintenance. This is what happens in a normal market. |

| It's impossible to predict the exact timing on these things, but when the signs are there, you know it's coming. Eventually, it will go so far and people will get sane, and then things will start to unwind. It will accelerate towards a price collapse because there is a cascading effect. Once the housing prices collapse in one region, it can spread to another region.
That's what's going to happen in the near future. This bubble market cannot stay propped up for very long. Now it may be three months from now or it may be three years, or even five years, before this happens. I can't say for sure. |

The hermit replied, "But the stop signs will eliminate the need for teflon. People will be able to stop their cars, and accidents will cease. The solution is simple."
But what might happen if stop signs actually worked, the townspeople wondered. How would it affect the booming economy of Allopath? Realizing the consequences, a burly old man who owned a local repair shop jumped to his feet and said, "If we build these stop signs, and traffic accidents go down, I'll have to fire most of my workers!"
It was at that moment that most of the townspeople realized there own jobs were at stake. |

As expected, despite being on medications, Chip's blood test showed all the evidence of killer-gene activation: high insulin level, signs of diabetes, high triglycerides, and high cholesterol levels, as well as signs of inflammation. Beverly was right to be concerned: the gun was loaded, cocked, and ready to fire! Beverly's labs were much better than Chip's, but her lipoprotein(a), perhaps the most dangerous form of "cholesterol," was very high. Despite being a physician, until then she had never had her Lp(a) level tested.

It has been shown that a high percentage of the population over the age of forty-five, male and female, shows signs of diastolic cardiac dysfunction, and that the risk of contracting congestive heart failure later in life is high. This is especially seen in both men and women with high blood pressure and in women with severe mitral valve prolapse. Ribose supplementation to healthy hearts increases the cardiac energy reserve and can help the heart restore normal diastolic cardiac function if early signs of diastolic dysfunction exist. |

Although there is no "cure" for aging, my clinical experience has shown that natural hormones, when used appropriately, can slow down many of the signs of aging including deteriorating mental function, loss of muscle tone, and wrinkled skin. Hormone production peaks when we are young, usually in the age range from 20 to 30. In older people, supplementation with natural, bioidentical hormones can reverse many of the signs of aging. Synthetic hormones do not provide the same anti-aging benefits as natural, bioidentical hormones. |

Since this is definitely greater than a ratio of 2, you would conclude you have early signs of insulin resistance or Syndrome X.
As soon as a person begins developing insulin resistance, his physician should recommend and support lifestyle changes, because, as I pointed out earlier, this is when cardiovascular damage really begins. Therefore, physicians need to be readily aware of the early signs of developing insulin resistance via the triglycerides/HDL cholesterol ratio. Insulin resistance is totally reversible at this point. |

Although there are signs and symptoms indicating the presence of cancer, the earliest cancer symptoms—those that appear when there is the best chance of combating the disease—are often minor and vague. Consult a physician if any of the following cancer warning signs persist over several days or more:
• sudden or unexplained weight loss.
• change in bowel or bladder habits.
• coughing that produces bloody phlegm.
• a sore that has not healed within three weeks.
• a mole that itches, bleeds, or changes shape or color.
• persistent hoarseness.
• persistent abdominal pain. |

In any case, I'm willing to bet these beer signs aren't actually the fault of the McDonald's company. I'd guess that the Express Stop owner placed these neon signs in the windows in violation of their franchise agreement with McDonald's. This photo is posted primarily for entertainment purposes because it deserves a good laugh. It's not any sort of indictment of McDonald's restaurants -- because there are a lot worse things going on in those McDonald's kitchens than beer, if you ask my opinion. |

The young prince Gautama Sakyamuni, the Future Buddha, had been protected by his father from all knowledge of age, sickness, death, or monkhood, lest he should be moved to thoughts of life renunciation; for it had been prophesied at his birth that he was to become either a world emperor or a Buddha. |

We used to have signs in front of our schools that said, "This is a drug-free zone." In fact, we still have some of these signs, but if you walk past these signs and walk into the school, you find out that as many as 30 to 40 percent of these children are on drugs. They're on powerful narcotics that have been prescribed to them by doctors, psychiatrists and school counselors, and pushed onto them by school administrators and parents who are cowering in fear over what might happen if their little Johnny doesn't stop being so hyper. We've got to put them on drugs! |

The Talking Cure
With all the talk of neurotransmitters and chemical changes we have lost sight of the true nature of affective disorders. The serotonin hypothesis of depression has been overplayed in the direct-to-consumer advertising as a way to link the "one pill to one chemical imbalance" idea. |

If the body is deficient in pure water, nutrients, enzymes, or sunlight, or has to deal with an abundance of toxic matter, it starts to show signs of dis-ease. It becomes physically stressed. If the stressful condition continues for too long, the body's recuperative ability is compromised and degenerative disease is the logical and inevitable result. But if we respect the body by giving it what it requires for efficient operation, it will work to reward us with good health.
WHAT WRONG THINGS ARE WE DOING?
Not Accepting Responsibility for Our Own Health
We seem to take our health for granted. |
| These are all signs the body gives to warn that serious problems lie ahead if corrective action is not taken.
When the body's warning signals are ignored, at some point one of two things happens. Either health degenerates to a point where the body is unable to reverse it and return to health, or the person decides to change lifestyles, and work with the body using nature's way to regain health and vitality.
