| Bile ducts transport bile from the liver cells toward the intestinal tract, similar to water pipes delivering water to a home or field. | Sources of Chemicals in a Typical Room
Most chemicals that contaminate the home stem from the use of the following groups of substances:
>• Pesticides in pest-control products (such as roach and flea treatments), wood treated for dry rot, mothproofing in wool carpets, paints, air pollution, and contaminated water. |
| Those working with these substances regularly need proper protective clothing, which needs to be left at work or removed before being brought into the home.
Other products found in garages include toxic glues and adhesives that off-gas a range of harmful solvents, as well as phthalates, plastics, and other chlorinated compounds. Natural glues made from animal products are available, which people have been using to glue things together for thousands of years, but are less powerful. Wood preservatives for garden fences and furniture also act as a major source of toxic chemicals. |
