Processed foods taste nothing like real food from nature. When foods are processed, cooked or put on a shelf in a grocery store, they're little more than a shadow of the original food.
If you think you've tried all kinds of foods before and you've never tried raw foods, you have no idea what you're missing. You're missing out on a whole universe of taste experience that goes beyond anything you've ever dreamed of. The first time you put raw foods cuisine in your mouth, you begin a whole new adventure. |
| You take a journey into a new realm of food experience that will expand your reality because it's like nothing you've ever tasted before.
You might try a raw foods diet because you want to experience tastes you've never experienced before. I always find it funny when people who are addicted to restaurant foods and junk foods say, "You eat such a clean diet, Mike, but I can't live without my Big Mac!" From my perspective, I'm thinking, a Big Mac tastes awful compared to the foods I'm eating on a daily basis. And many of the foods I consume are raw foods. |

FOOD: Having extra food on hand is easy. Just buy some extra dried or canned goods at your local store. Raw, fresh nuts are good to store, as well as dried foods in #10 cans. Avoid salty, sugary foods because they dehydrate you and suppress immune function. Stick to bland foods that provide nutrition, not entertainment. They key here is to store your food before the emergency hits and make sure you have enough water to rehydrate dried foods.
A source I recommend is www.BePrepared.com but avoid their pre-made food recipes. Stick with their freeze-dried fruits, vegetables and meats in #10 cans. |

It means turning to whole food sources such as whole grains, beans and legumes, nuts, seeds, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits and superfoods. When you choose these as your food sources, you are fortifying your body with the vitamins, minerals, healthy oils, fiber and other nutrients it needs to boost its immune system function and fight off the flu.

Susan Linn made the statement in response to the Kaiser Family Foundation's report, "Food for Thought: Television food Advertising to Children in the United States."
"This invaluable report clearly demonstrates the extent to which children are targeted with television commercials for unhealthy food. And, unfortunately, TV ads on television are only the tip of the iceberg. Television programs and movies also market unhealthy food to children through extensive brand licensing, promotions at fast food restaurants, and product placement," wrote Linn. |
| Researchers found while children of all ages are bombarded with promotions for fast food, junk food and soda, 8- to 12-year-olds see the most food advertisements. This market, the "tweens," is especially important to advertisers because it encompasses the ages at which youngsters typically begin to make some of their own buying decisions.
According to Linn, "We know that marketing is a factor in the childhood obesity epidemic. It is unconscionable that 8-12-year-olds see, on average, more than 7,600 food commercials a year -- the vast majority for candy, snacks, cereals, and fast food. |

Although I'm not a big fan of increasing taxes or using taxes for social reform, it is true that taxing junk foods would make them less affordable to most citizens and might cause some people to choose alternative sources of food such as healthy snack foods. In other words, if we made unhealthy snack foods the same price as healthy snack foods by taxing the junk foods, people would have a more balanced choice of what they want to eat.
Another proposal that I especially like is requiring warning labels on foods similar to the warning labels now posted on cigarette packaging. |

One taste tells you this is no ordinary food. In fact, it's among the highest-density superfood I've yet experienced. And the best part? It tastes so incredibly good that you'll have to exercise significant self discipline not to eat everything in sight.

All other animals consume food in its natural, unprocessed state, but humans actually go out of their way to render food nutritionally worthless before eating it. No wonder humans are the least healthy mammals on the planet.
The invention of the microwave and its mass adoption by the population coincides with the onset of obesity in developed nations around the world. Not only did the microwave make it convenient to eat more obesity-promoting foods, it also destroyed much of the nutritional content of those foods, leaving consumers in an ongoing state of malnourished overfeeding. |

The fact that they were able to serve this food to 2,000+ people was absolutely amazing. Sure, the food was a bit late, but who cares? This was worth every minute standing in line. I became an instant fan of Bruce's cuisine, and I've made a note to make sure I invite him for a future interview. Bruce trains raw foods chefs at culinary institutes throughout Oregon and California. He's a young living legend in the raw foods community.

Thanks to Whole Foods, my monthly food bill now nearly exceeds my house payment! But I love every bite of it, and if it wasn't for this natural grocery chain being in Phoenix, I think I would literally have to move to California or Boulder, Colorado just to get near one.
But don't walk around blindly in a Whole Foods supermarket, buying up everything in sight under the assumption that it's all healthy and good for you. As much as I love the Whole Foods stores, the number of products they sell that contain questionable ingredients is rather surprising. |
| I have a message for Whole Foods: Just tell us how much the freakin' food costs, okay? Don't make us have to decode your little math brainteasers in order to arrive at a per-item dollar figure. Shopping at Whole Foods should be a health experience, not a math experience.
I still love the store, mind you, and I can personally handle the math requirements. But that's only because I eat a lot of avocados, and they're good for brain health.
My overall view of Whole Foods? Two thumbs up. Way up. This store rocks. |
| This ingredient is used by all sorts of natural-sounding food companies to enhance the taste of their products without having to list "monosodium glutamate" on the label. Watch out for this hidden excitotoxin. It's in thousands of natural foods products, and many of them are sold at Whole Foods. The store describes itself as a "hydrogenated free zone" (meaning they don't carry products with hydrogenated oils, and that's a good thing), but there are plenty of other toxins found on its shelves.
That's just the beginning of the Whole Foods warnings. |
| That equates to approximately three bites, since most food products sold at Whole Foods are marked up somewhere near the per-ounce price of precious metals. On a per-ounce basis, eating silver coins is probably cheaper than eating at the Whole Foods deli.
The salt that shrunk my head
Other selections from the deli also listed yeast extract right on the ingredients list! To avoid all the bacon and yeast extract, I decided to buy some fresh tortilla soup made by apparently famous sisters who are producing soup under the Whole Foods brand. |

The FDA and various food processing companies are also pushing for new regulations that would mandate the mass irradiation of all foods. This would be done under the guise of "protecting the people" but would, in fact, lead to the creation of toxic byproducts in those irradiated foods. Those substances, when ingested, are carcinogenic to the human body, leading to huge increases in the risk of cancer and possibly DNA mutations. Again, this isn't science fiction: It's state-of-the-art food preservation technology that's about to be rolled out in the United States and many other countries. |

It's the food, stupid! And if you don't understand that point, it's probably because you had lunch at a fast food restaurant today and your brain isn't functioning too well.
I say we ban fast food restaurants in hospitals and public schools across the nation. No hospital and no public school with any degree of ethics should support the financial success of food and beverage companies that serve disease-promoting products. This behavior has gone on for far too long. Hospitals have sold out to fast food restaurants in order to make a buck on a lease. |

Right now, we have food companies growing genetically modified crops that, if subjected to unlucky gene mutations, could potentially wipe out significant portions of the global food supply, leading to devastating famine and a sharp decline in the global population. That's not fiction: It's the status quo in modern agriculture today. No special effects required.
The FDA and various food processing companies are also pushing for new regulations that would mandate the mass irradiation of all foods. |

Low-vibration food is created with the intent of profit rather than love -- like food from greedy corporations and processed factory foods -- whereas high-vibration food is food from sources that are interested in helping humanity, have respect for the Earth, and respect for animals and plants. Although there's no replacement for the real thing, it is possible that this device, through electromagnetic vibration, can help raise the vibration of food so that it has either less of a detrimental effect, or even a positive effect on human health. |

When you also consider the liver-enhancing, brain-enhancing and anti-cancer effects of chocolate, and you add in carefully chosen ingredients like goji berry jelly, organic yacon syrup, black maca, lucuma powder and even nopal cactus (found in their "Superfood Chocolate bar"), you've created a powerhouse of superior nutrition that just happens to be the best tasting bit of food that's probably ever reached the tip of your tongue.
Let me say, for the record, that I wholeheartedly endorse the entire Empowered Foods product line. |

Read the ingredients on everything you buy and you'll find that the largest "natural" food manufacturers still use hidden MSG.
(The newest ingredient to hide MSG under is called torula yeast. Watch for it on labels.)

What's the definition of all-natural, anyway?
The truth is that food manufacturers can use just about any ingredients or processes they want while still claiming their foods are all-natural. |

Really, we believe that your food is your medicine. Really, you should be getting the nutrition from food and certainly as children are developing not only their brains, but their bodies -- physically, emotionally and mentally -- they should be eating the right foods, and that is key to that development I think.
Mike: Absolutely.
Burt: I have a child myself, and I now know how important it is to make sure that they get good food. If they're not getting the right things, it doesn't take much to turn on the TV and look at the diabetes rates, the obesity rates and just health in general. |

It makes your food hot. But the mechanism by which heat is produced causes internal damage to the delicate molecular structures of vitamins and phytonutrients. Minerals are largely unaffected, however, so you'll still get the same magnesium, calcium and zinc in microwaved foods as you would in non-microwaved foods, but the all-important B vitamins, anthocyanins, flavonoids and other nutritional elements are easily destroyed by microwave ovens.
The microwave is the appliance of the living dead. |
