The Leptin Diet: How fit Is Your Fat?

Byron J. Richards

CHAPTER 10 How fit is Your Fat? The idea of physically fit muscles is easy to understand. When a person is out of shape, the lack of muscle energy and vitality is obvious. In the same way, any person who gains too much weight is developing unfit fat cells. It is very sobering to realize how bad this problem can become. Unfit fat cells can set in motion a series of energy-crippling metabolic catch-22s that are difficult change. Fatigue is the overriding symptom of unfit fat cells. Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer are the long-term consequences.

Test subjects must fit criteria that show them to have a "satisfactory" history with human insulin. Test subjects must be experienced diabetics, stabilized diabetics, and between 25 and 35 years of age. In an adverse events trial, it is important to avoid diabetics with complications, young or old diabetics, noncompliant diabetics, and diabetics with highly variable lifestyles. Should a subject get into the trial and is subsequently found not to fit the mold, he/she will be released from the study, and data collected about this test subject not counted.

There are plenty of people who try to convince you that it is good enough to walk your dog, rake your leaves, cut your grass, and do some gardening or other forms of daily activity to stay fit. Activities such as these can have a positive impact on your life and any form of activity is better than doing nothing. If your desire is to dramatically improve your health, you must include consistent strength training and cardio-respiratory exercise as key components of your physical activity. There is no other way.

One preliminary study gave aerobically fit and unfit women a mentally stressful test, and found no differences between them in physical or psychological measures of their stress reaction.54 Another preliminary study found that while physical activity was associated with reduced stress symptoms, having high aerobic fitness had no influence.55 This may mean that effects other than improved aerobic fitness, such as an improved self-image or the social support from belonging to an exercise group, are responsible for the benefits of exercise on controlling stress.

Should a subject get into the trial and is subsequently found not to fit the mold, he/she will be released from the study, and data collected about this test subject not counted. Data thus collected form the basis for a "scientific" opinion that propounds that AERs are "horse hockey." The opinion will show that AERs are nothing more than anecdotal tales and are as untrustworthy, as unscientific as the individuals who report such adverse events.
Where does diabetic gratitude fit into this picture? The only vision the greedy pharmaceuticals have of a cure is to prevent a cure. Despite pharmaceutical and regulatory roadblocks, I predict a cure will be found, but it will come from outside the pharmaceutical industry. It may be a "partial" cure, such as a daily injection to prevent destruction of beta cells, or monthly injections of new islet cells. It might be a one-time treatment or one requiring an annual "booster.
You may operate your hospitals, your doctors' offices, or your emergency rooms on a first-come, first served basis, by appointment only, or any other way you see fit. You can offer free drugs; you can offer costly drugs. You can offer free nursing home care for the aged; or, as in the novel Soylent Green, you can have old people euthanized when they outlive their usefulness. You may guide medical research in any direction. Every facet of medical care merits your expertise, because right now greedy pharmaceutical corporations have that goal in mind — complete control.
The evidence clearly shows that large pharmaceutical corporations are acting, today, in a manner similar to their forebear, I.G. Farben. Eugenics and human experimentation on those with genetic and chronic disorders should be regarded with horror equaling that which followed the discoveries of Nazi war crimes. Through a well-conceived corporate business plan, the greed that allows corporations to amass huge profits, will ultimately reveal a roadmap for total domination.

Once I found alcohol and drugs when I was about 13,1 started to feel like I fit in and could relate to others. Bacardi 151 was my first drink, which led to many other drugs within the first year. Throughout the years, I experimented with cocaine, speed, heroin, crack, alcohol, marijuana or whatever else I could get my hands on. I was always looking for the right combination to get the perfect high. As the years passed, I became a very angry individual and blamed the world and everyone in it for the way that my life was and for the way that I felt. I got loaded to change that feeling.
This book brings together in one easy-to-read work both the deceptive shenanigans and the real-world solutions to a healthy and fit lifestyle. Craig Pepin-Donat is not content with simply telling you what is wrong. He offers ways to protect yourself from the unscrupulous. He provides positive alternatives to the continuous mainstream media serving of bogus diets, infomercials featuring cheap home equipment and a society awash in drugs for every ailment.

Exercise is a way to enhance the production of ATE Physical fitness means the body has been conditioned to produce ATP at a level of vitality. fit individuals have more ATE at rest (well-charged batteries) and readily produce more ATE as needed (more efficient engines). Energy begets energy. It is easy to understand why couch potatoes and people in sedentary work gain weight, are fatigued, and/or struggle with mood. Feople who are generally low on ATE don't have the energy to get going or the motivation to do much, like a car battery that struggles to start.

We also included five different cell phone connectors for the cell phone charger function, but the truth is that cell phone companies keep changing all their connectors, so there's no guarantee that these connectors are going to fit your phone. (They probably fit 90% of the phones on the market, but certainly not 100%.) This means if the connectors don't fit your phone, you have to run out to Radio Shack or somewhere similar and find an adapter that will fit your phone. Now let's talk about the dynamo function.

For many, it was a horrible experience that led to a major coughing fit. Your body is not stupid. It knows when something is wrong. It was rejecting the poison of the cigarette. When you inhale nicotine, within ten seconds it spreads from the lungs directly into your bloodstream, to your brain, and ultimately delivers its poisons to every organ and cell in your body. This is the most vile and destructive drug in the history of civilization — especially because it is legal. If you are a cigarette smoker and feel you should be able to continue smoking even if it kills you, that is your right.

Natural, bioidentical hormones have a perfect fit in these receptors. The "key" fits perfectly in its complimentary "lock". This is contrasted with a synthetic hormone in which the unnatural hormone (i.e., the "key") does not fit well in the body's receptor (i.e., the "lock"). A comparison of the chemical structure of a natural hormone (progesterone) and a synthetic hormone (Provera? is shown in Figure 1. Provera?is the synthetic version of the hormone progesterone. As can be seen from Figure 1, Provera?has two side chains (indicated by arrows) that progesterone does not have.

Your clothes will fit better, however, so you may see it in your jeans before you do on the scale.) This is not to say you shouldn't work out if you're accustomed to doing so. And fitness does have other benefits, including psychological ones that can be of particular help if you're stressed from an extended plateau or just need to get your mind off food. Exercise releases endorphins, which have a relaxing effect. Exercise also can help you settle in emotionally at the same time that your body is settling in to your new way of eating. Yoga is an excellent stress reducer, as is tai chi.

DOSING ISSUES: ONE SIZE DOESN'T fit ALL Because most drugs today are marketed and prescribed in one-size-fits-all, standard doses, a ninety-year-old, hundred-pound grandmother on five medications is getting the same dose as a two-hundred-thirty-pound football player. The common, one-size-fits-all drug dose ignores our biological individuality, which is influenced by gender, race, body size, individual genetics, variations in nutritional status, and other factors. For example, women generally require lower doses than men and may suffer serious side effects when given larger, man-sized doses.

What Kretser is effectively saying is that it's up to you, kids, to figure out which of your "favorite" (industry code for "junk") foods best fit you and your "healthy lifestyle." (When did kids start having "lifestyles" instead of a life?) The genius of this rhetoric is that it sanctions the status quo of junk food marketing run amok, while making food manufacturers appear to be caring corporate citizens who are deeply concerned about "education" and the "freedom" to acquire it.

Not everyone is fit enough to follow the Five Rules at first. They may need to build up to them. Some people find it hard to believe they could ever go five to six hours without eating, but a few days of willpower will get them out of the seemingly desperate clutches of faulty leptin-driven cravings and into metabolic gear. Much to their surprise, following the Five Rules is not only easy, but energy level increases and numerous other troubling symptoms magically begin to disappear. This is by far the most common response to following the Five Rules. Plan Your Day Breakfast is important.
A metabolically fit person eats breakfast and lunch in the right amounts of food to sustain energy between meals. No snacking is needed. Dinner Getting home late, eating the largest meal of the day, and then going to bed is a fast way to cause leptin problems. Always allow three hours before bed following a light dinner (300 to 400 calories). If dinner contains 600 calories or more, allow at least five hours until bedtime. This spacing is vital for proper metabolism. Individuals prone to insomnia should eat their main proteins of the day at breakfast and lunch.

The only case that might fit the description was filed in 2002 and dropped almost immediately. ) But the point of the ad is not to convey the truth, but rather to convince people that the idea of filing a food-related lawsuit is absurd. Never mind that the case pending in New York (on behalf of children) is based on McDonald's deceptive marketing practices and not predicated on the company making anyone fat. Why bother with legal theories that require explanation and reasoning when photos of fat stomachs that appeal to emotion and stereotypes are more effective?
Clowning around Never one to miss out on a good PR bandwagon, McDonald's is also encouraging kids to get fit. With the fast-food king's notorious child-themed marketing increasingly under attack by advocates, McDonald's is in dire need of spin control. So, what better way to clean up your image (rather than your act) than to turn the corporate mascot into a marketing machine for exercise? It's a win-win strategy. McDonald's gains another excuse to market its brand and spread goodwill while promoting a politically safe and upbeat message.
Newspapers ran with headlines such as, "Ronald McDonald Gets Extreme Makeover,"22 "McDonald's Gives Ronald Jock Makeover to fit with Healthier Menu,"23 "Ronald Mcjock? McDonald's Gives Mascot Sporty New Look."24 Not all reporters were fooled, though. Reuters news service said, "The reincarnated Ronald is part of McDonald's aggressive effort to deflect widespread media criticism of its food as unhealthy and fattening."25 But wait, there's more.
In my bio on the ActivistCash Web site, CCF claims that I "attack all foods that don't fit [my] vegan agenda."13 Actually, I don't have a vegan agenda, nor is it my goal to get everyone to eat the way I choose to. Naturally, the fact that I personally happen to eat a mostly vegan (devoid of animal products) diet does influence my advocacy work. I also think a diet that resembles my own would be optimal for most people. Does that mean that I have some secret plan to change everyone's eating habits to precisely match mine? Absolutely not.
Rather, I promote a whole foods, plant-based diet; there are plenty of vegan foods that don't fit that "agenda." But of course, CCF's smear rhetoric prefers to pass over a term like whole foods. The loaded word vegan is much better suited to its tar and feathering purposes, given its association, in some circles, with extremism and radical-fringe "lunacy" (thanks in large part to the hard work of CCF's well-oiled PR machine and others like it). CCF maintains a long hit parade of food cops operating under supposed "hidden agendas.
