White flour promotes nutritional deficiencies and chronic disease

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

Imagine how good their blood chemistry would be, the level of energy they would have on a daily basis, how healthy they would be and how long a life they would live free of chronic pain and free of chronic disease. This is the kind of life that you can achieve with nutrition. And it is exactly the life that I'm leading right now through a proven strategy of nutrition and physical exercise. So if you put all this together, you realize that the standard American diet is a diet of chronic disease and death.
To top it off, they're subjected to chronic stress conditions like work stress, environmental stress (breathing polluted air, drinking polluted water), relationship stress, lack of sleep, lack of sunlight, and so on. This chronic stress actually accelerates the depletion of nutrients in the body, leaving people in a deeper state of nutritional deficiency. So by the time you're done with all of that, the average American has only a fraction of the nutrition they actually need for optimum health. And that means they are operating at far less than the health potential their body was designed for.

And if we told Americans the truth about their foods -- if we gave them honest nutritional advice and dietary advice -- we would help people make better decisions that would eliminate chronic disease in their own life, and, for expectant mothers, allow them to give birth to children without birth defects. We need honest food labeling and we need to outlaw toxic ingredients like aspartame, monosodium glutamate, food additives and chemical preservatives like sodium nitrite that directly cause cancers of the digestive tract.
On top of all this, virtually every grocery store in America sells a vast array of foods that promote chronic diseases. Foods made with white flour are very common. That includes most breads, cookies, crackers, pastries and pastas. And this one ingredient -- refined white flour -- strips the body of essential nutrition, leaving it deficient in B vitamins as well as minerals like magnesium and zinc. These are precisely the minerals that children need in order to build healthy nervous systems and avoid behavioral disorders later in life.

Race-based medicine misses the point: skin pigmentation impacts health and chronic disease

When it comes to racism and medicine, the real racists out there are doctors and physicians who refuse to inform their black patients about the simple root cause of their chronic diseases. The common cause is lack of sunlight and chronic vitamin D deficiency. And personally I haven't met a single black person who has been told by their doctor about these differences in skin pigmentation and vitamin D generation.
These Americans are especially prone to chronic vitamin D deficiencies because even when they manage to get sunlight on their skin, it is so reduced in intensity that it hardly provides the beneficial effect of natural sunlight found at the equator. As a result of all of this, black Americans suffer from skyrocketing rates of the diseases related to chronic vitamin D deficiency. Most notably this causes prostate cancer in black males. This is the number one reason why black males in America are "mysteriously" experiencing skyrocketing rates of prostate cancer.

I feel honored to be joining those people in telling the truth about the dangers of the American food supply and the real cause of chronic disease in this country. Because we have all our priorities mixed up in this country. We're spending $300+ billion fighting a war in Iraq, and we won't spend even $100 million a year educating our own people on how they can prevent cancer, diabetes, heart disease, birth defects, osteoporosis, clinical depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and other diseases.

Then they wonder why they suffer from chronic disease. The fact is that white flour will (slowly) kill you. It will cause nutritional deficiencies and it will ultimately put you in a state of chronic disease that could easily be avoided by consuming whole grain flour and getting outstanding nutrition rather than consuming processed grains. So don't make the mistake of thinking that nutrition simply means calories. Often, around the world, when you hear the term 'malnutrition', you're shown images of thin, bony children who haven't had anything to eat.

Disease Economy: How the United States economy runs on "treating" chronic disease

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

How do you make healthy people profitable when there's so much money in treating disease and chronic illness and so much money in addicting people to lifetime requirements for prescription drugs? How do you generate profits off of healthy people, as a nation? Let's face it: If people are healthy, especially well into their old age, they are no longer customers of those clinics being constructed all over this country. They are no longer customers of Walgreens, CVS or the Wal-Mart pharmacy. They are no longer customers of surgeons, physicians, foot specialists or Alzheimer's doctors.
People think our economy is booming, but we're all dying of chronic disease. Why is it that 50 percent of our senior citizens in the United States have high blood pressure? Why is it that 40 percent of our senior citizens are now clinically obese? I'm willing to bet that a similar percentage may have nervous system disorders or early stages of dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Most of them are probably metabolizing some form of cancer right now, even though it may not have been diagnosed yet. We are a nation of diseased individuals, and that disease starts very early.
An economy based on paying for disease treatment However, if you look at the quality of the products and services that are being exchanged for these dollars, you'll realize something is amiss here, because what we're doing is basing our economic growth on the growth of chronic and degenerative disease. We're basing our economy on the idea that we can treat more and more people with drugs and medical services and keep selling them soft drinks and fast food while calling it economic growth.

Walking the talk: the true story of my transformation from obesity and chronic disease to outstanding health

The only thing that really worked long term was to just completely reform my lifestyle: avoid all unhealthy processed foods, get outstanding nutrition through supplements, engage in all sorts of strength training, flexibility training, and modalities like Pilates and Yoga, which today I just absolutely swear by in terms of their effectiveness at enhancing core strength and eliminating chronic back pain. So I did these things and I educated myself about the true causes of health.
To give yourself a strong foundation in nutrition that will protect you from chronic disease while greatly enhancing your health, read The 7 Laws of Nutrition. After reading this book, you'll instantly understand how to choose foods that create health while avoiding foods that promote disease. To learn about new technology that can predict your health future with a simple three-minute scan, check out The Pharmanex BioPhotonic Scanner Revolution. (No, I don't have any financial relationship with the Pharmanex company.) Most of all, just keep reading and learning.
And for me, I want you to know that when you look at my pics on the site, those pictures represent thousands of hours of struggle, effort, and self-taught wisdom about what it takes to transform your body from a state of chronic disease to one of outstanding human health. And I'm thankful for every hour of that journey, for it is the journey itself that is the most rewarding, not the end result. The journey continues Today, I'm dedicated to sharing the good news about health with others.

The Cure Con: how you're being deceived by charities that claim to be racing for the cure for cancer and other chronic diseases

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

There is only prevention, only the reversal of disease through nutrition, physical exercise, avoidance of chronic stress, avoidance of environmental toxins, and participation in healing therapies, such as vibrational nutrition, healing touch, nutritional supplements, acupuncture, chiropractic care, and superfoods. The way to "cure" these diseases is to prevent them. And if you already have such a "disease," the way to cure them is to stop treating the symptoms of that disease and, instead, treat the whole patient (you).
For most chronic diseases, there are no cures. Why? Because the diseases themselves are fictitious. Cancer is not a disease. I'll be covering this in more detail in my book "The Illusion of Disease," which will be published later this year, but in brief, cancer is just a name given to a pattern of symptoms appearing as a natural result of certain metabolic functions caused by lifestyle decisions. It is not a disease any more than skid marks are a disease in the Town of Allopath. Cancer can't be cured with chemicals. It's no germ.

A life stressor can be considered chronic if it persists for three or more months. Instead of pumping out more adrenaline, the adrenal glands respond to chronic stress by secreting more Cortisol. Because chronic stress is ongoing, high Cortisol levels do not subside until the stress is removed or the adrenal glands exhausted. Over time, elevated Cortisol levels can wreak havoc on your body.

I didn't know what was causing my chronic back pain. Being uneducated about health and nutrition, I thought, "Well, there must be something physically wrong with my back." And so of course, I started visiting chiropractors and eventually even medical doctors and surgeons. And they all said, "There is nothing physically wrong with your back." And meanwhile, I was in such excruciating pain that I had to start standing up while I worked. So I created a desk where I could stand up and write. And that worked quite well.
Maybe I was 21 or 22, but it was very early in my 20's that I started experiencing this chronic back pain. And how bad was it? Well, it was so bad that I couldn't sit for more than a few minutes without experiencing excruciating pain. And yet, I was a writer. I used to work for a software company writing documentation. And the pain got so bad that I just couldn't sit anymore. That was a big impairment to my career. I think a lot of people would have just said, "Okay! I'm going to collect workers compensation. I'm injured, I can't work.
I don't ever experience chronic back pain these days. I can sit for hours if I wish. And yet, every day, I invest in my own health. I spend several hours a day stretching, strength training, engaged in physical activity, and continuing to learn and research foods, the healing effects of medicinal herbs, and how we can become healthier human beings by relying on the wisdom of nature. Weight loss was a major challenge Weight loss didn't come easy for me at all. In fact, most of the men in my family have been overweight. I came from a family of people who overate and the men were always heavy.

Claudio Franceschi has developed a widely accepted theory on the relationship between chronic inflammation and aging. Over time, he believes, the negative effects of inflammation build up to create conditions in the body that may promote age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, atherosclerosis, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Slowing life's pace may help keep the chronic inflammation in check, and theoretically, the related disease at bay. Apart from such health benefits, this Blue Zone lesson does much to add richness to life.

A brief history of nutritional deficiencies and chronic disease

And that, frankly, is why the public is still not being taught the correlation between nutrition and chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis and even mental disorders like clinical depression. This article is an excerpt from the book, The 7 Laws of Nutrition by Mike Adams.
REPPED: There is a long history of discovering relationships between nutritional deficiencies and chronic disease. One of the most well known is probably scurvy -- a disease where your bones lose their rigidity due to a deficiency of vitamin C. The historical accounts of this mostly involve sailors who, on long sailing voyages, were overcome by this nutritional disease. And it actually took hundreds of years before the right scientist came along and discovered that this was caused by a simple nutritional deficiency that could be cured by eating fruits high in vitamin C such as limes.

Gajdusek recalled: When I saw them, they were no longer ambulatory; and the tremors, athetoid {spastic] movement, and blurred speech all pointed to a chronic neurological disorder unassociated with any acute infectious disease at onset (or even in the months or years before onset) which was dramatic enough to be recalled by reliable informants in their community. They were rational, but articulation of speech was very poor. Silly smiles, with grimacing, were prominent.

This is where the cardiovascular disease study comes into the picture. chronic vitamin D deficiency also reduces the body's ability to protect itself from cardiovascular disease. And so the drug mentioned earlier is only having success in the fact that it is making up for lost ground primarily due to a lack of sunlight on the part of Americans with darker skin pigmentation. So, on one hand, the medical industry is correct to notice these differences between black Americans and white Americans, but on the other hand it has a very poor approach to solving the problem.
The common cause is lack of sunlight and chronic vitamin D deficiency. And personally I haven't met a single black person who has been told by their doctor about these differences in skin pigmentation and vitamin D generation. That is a great disservice to the black community in America and around the world, and it is yet another example of how conventional medicine ignores the unique needs of patients of African descent. Personally, I wish I had much darker skin.

The Spontaneous Healing of Belief: Shattering the Paradigm of False Limits

My grandfather wasn't describing a passing sense of inadequacy about his life at an earlier time; rather, he was describing a tremendous sense of chronic and unresolved guilt that he felt in the present. He'd harbored it all of those years, and it had eventually become somatized as his physical experience. The connection was apparent because belief is a code, and our feelings of belief are its commands. The chronic sense of helplessness that my grandfather had worked so hard to suppress—his subconscious belief that he was helpless?became the literal expression of his body.
