Indeed, the world is threatened by ongoing pandemics of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis b and C, tuberculosis, and, potentially, avian influenza that are being driven by the mineral impoverishment of global soils and the poorer quality food they are producing. Professor Foster has described, for example, the role played by selenium deficiency in accelerating the HIV/AIDS pandemic.11'12

UTERINE FIBROIDS <\Q
OVERVIEW
Uterine fibroids (also known as leiomyomas or myomas) occur in 20 to 25 percent of women by age 40,1 more than 50 percent of women overall. They are the most common solid pelvic tumors in women and the most common indication for major surgery in women, and they account for approximately one-third of hysterectomies each year. |

Many scientists also believe strong anecdotal evidence exists between receiving the hepatitis b vaccine and developing lupus. Yet another noted connection between vaccine and illness is evidence relating the Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine, known as Hib, to type 1 diabetes. Like Epstein-Barr, however, the Hib vaccine may take time to wreak its damage and spark disease: a statistically significant association between receiving the Haemophilus vaccine and developing type 1 diabetes in children exists as much as three years after receiving the vaccine. |

Reishi has anti-inflammatory activity and can be of benefit for people with asthma (especially allergic asthma), chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, and hepatitis b and C. It also has hepatoprotective and antiviral activity.
Reishi's adaptogenic effects are mild and cumulative, but research shows it improves adrenocortial function and relieves stress. One interesting use for this fungus is to prevent and treat altitude sickness. It can be combined with cordyceps, ginger, and rhodiola and should be taken for four to six weeks before visiting high-altitude locations. |
| It traditionally was used for treating jaundice and today is used as a supportive therapy for patients with hepatitis b and C.
• Licorice is a premier liver tonic and is hepatoprotective. It heals liver damage and is used in treating hepatitis and cirrhosis.
• Lycium has mild hepatoprotective activity. It helps regenerate liver cells and protects against liver damage caused by medications or hep-atotoxic chemicals.
• Reishi protects the liver and enhances its ability to detoxify metabolic wastes.
• Schisandra is the most beneficial adaptogen for the liver. |

If a "dirty bomb" exposed a large segment of US citizens simultaneously to hepatitis b, Hepatitis A, tetanus, pertussis, diphtheria, Haemophilus influenza B, three strains of polio viruses, 3 strains of influenza viruses, measles, mumps, and rubella viruses, the chickenpox virus, and 7 strains of Streptococcus bacteria, we would declare a national emergency. We would call it an "extreme act of BIOTERRORISM." The public outcry would be immense and our government would act accordingly. |

Chanca piedra has also been reported to have direct antiviral activity in human, animal, and test tube studies against the hepatitis b virus. Over twenty clinical studies have been published to date about these effects, and the results have been inconsistent and confusing (unless thoroughly evaluated).
Hepatitis is enough of a worldwide concern to merit sifting through the disparate studies. hepatitis b infection (HBV) is the leading cause of liver cancer worldwide—which is considered 100 percent fatal. |

I had high cholesterol and blood pressure, high hemoconio-sis (abnormal hemoconia count in blood), and hepatitis b. I had discoloration around my eyes, eczema, bleeding knuckles and elbows, hemorrhoids. I felt sluggish and fatigued, used an inhaler, and had pain with simple movements. I listened to Gary's radio show and joined a support group with my wife in 1999.
Now all the above-mentioned ailments are gone. I lost one hundred pounds. I have constant energy. I run, race walk, power walk, skate, do aerobics, and train in a gym. I've lost one width of a shoe size. |

Newborns certainly don't fall into those risk groups and children almost never suffer from a hepatitis b infection or liver cancer. Since the vaccine protects a child only for a few years, by the time he could possibly develop liver cancer, the vaccine would have already stopped providing any benefits. Obviously this extremely poisonous childhood vaccine is absolutely unnecessary.
The documented evidence against the value of immunization is so comprehensive that in 1986 the American Congress passed federal legislation to compensate children for damages arising from vaccination. |

In 1988, Finland recommended that all babies be injected with the hepatitis b vaccine.
The introduction of these new vaccines in Finland was followed by a 62 percent rise in the incidence of diabetes in the 0-4 years age group and a 19 percent rise of diabetes in the 5-9 years age group between the years 1980 and 1982 and 1987 and 1989. As shown in the NVIC report, Classen concluded:
The net effect was the addition of three new vaccines to the 0-4 year old age group, and a 147 percent increase in the incidence of IDDM. |
| In 1974,130,000 children age 3 months to 4 years were enrolled in a vaccine experimental trial and injected with hepatitis b vaccine or meningococcal vaccine. Then, in 1976, the pertussis vaccine used in Finland was made stronger by adding a second strain of bacteria. According to the National Vaccine Information Center's (NVIC) report, "Juvenile Diabetes and Vaccination: New Evidence for a Connection," during the years 1977-1979, there was a 64 percent increase in the incidence of Type-1 diabetes in Finland compared to the years 1970-1976. |
| B vaccination campaign was 18.2 cases per 100,000 children per year.68
In the October 22,1997 Infectious Diseases in Clinical Practice, Dr. Classen presented more data further substantiating his findings of a vaccine-diabetes connection. He reported that the incidence of diabetes in Finland was stable in children under 4 years of age until the government made several changes in its childhood vaccination schedule. In 1974,130,000 children age 3 months to 4 years were enrolled in a vaccine experimental trial and injected with hepatitis b vaccine or meningococcal vaccine. |

| Glycyrrhizin suppresses the secretion of hepatitis b virus (HBV) surface antigen (HbsAg) in patients with HBV. The compound is thought to bind to hepatocytes at a concentration able to modify the expression of HBV-related antigens on the hepatocytes and suppress sialylation of HbsAg (Sato, 1996). Glycyrrhizin inhibited proliferation of viruses (Ito et al, 1987), modulated T cells (Kimura et al, 1993), augmented NK activity (Itoh & Kumagai, 1983), and inactivated viruses (Baba & Shigeta, 1987). |

Studies in the region of Quidong in China, where liver cancer rates are among the highest in the world, have found a strong correlation between low selenium intake and cancer risk, with other risk factors being hepatitis b infection, exposure to the dietary carcinogen aflatoxin, and a genetic predisposition.40 The researchers then began a large-scale selenium study in which an entire village of twenty thousand people took a selenium supplement, which was added to their salt. In the following years, there was a significant drop in the incidence of both hepatitis b and liver cancer. |

While the basic cause of hives involves the release of histamine from mast cells or basophils—white blood cells that play a key role in allergic reactions—what actually triggers this release can be a variety of factors, such as physical contact or pressure, heat (prickly heat rash), cold, water, autoimmune reactions, and allergies or sensitivities to drugs (especially antibiotics and aspirin), foods, food additives, and infectious organisms, such as hepatitis b, Candida albicans, and streptococcal bacteria. |

And they go under their labels to their companies, and we have a lot of test work going on with viruses like hepatitis b, and we have a lot of human studies going on in China and also in Mexico. And they're producing a great deal of data. So on the bird flu, we have no data yet. We actually have data from the NIH, we've got them to test it on SARS. And our AGX product was able to get greater than 99 percent kill on SARS [virus] in 60 minutes.

Then, in the early 1990s, Lilly was developing another drug, fialuridine, for the treatment of hepatitis b. A liver infection, hepatitis b affects 300 million people worldwide. Hepatitis B's chronic complications can lead to liver failure, cancer, and death. Doctors and researchers have long sought a cure for the disease. But fialuridine's testing was abruptly halted by the FDA in 1993 after five patients died and others developed severe injuries in a small, early study of just fifteen patients. A government investigation was "scathing" in its criticism of Lilly, according to reports. |

While our rat studies were underway, studies were published44, 45 claiming that chronic infection with hepatitis b virus (HBV) was the major risk factor for human liver cancer. It was thought that people who remained chronically infected with HBV had twenty to forty times the risk of getting liver cancer.
Over the years, considerable research had been done on how this virus causes liver cancer.46 In effect, a piece of the virus gene inserts itself into the genetic material of the mouse liver where it initiates liver cancer. |
| In mice with hepatitis b virus-altered genes, the pattern was consistent. In studies done by another research group, with breast cancer and different carcinogens, the pattern was consistent. In studies of pancreatic cancer and other nutrients, the pattern was consistent.5253 In studies on carotenoid antioxidants and cancer initiation, the pattern was consistent.54 55 From the first stage of cancer initiation to the second stage of cancer promotion, the pattern was consistent. From one mechanism to another, the pattern was consistent. |
| The primary culprit seemed to be chronic infection with hepatitis b virus (HBV). On average, about 12-13% of our study subjects were chronically infected with the virus. In some areas, one-half of the people were chronically infected! To put this into perspective, only 0.2-0.3% of Americans are chronically infected with this virus.
But there's more. In addition to the virus being a cause of liver cancer in China, it seems that diet also plays a key role. How do we know? The blood cholesterol levels provided the main clue. |

Reduce your risk of hepatitis b and C. Hepatitis A, a food-borne illness, isn't pleasant, but it clears up and doesn't cause long-term liver damage. On the other hand, hepatitis b and C—and possibly other forms of hepatitis (I think they're up to G now)—can cause serious liver problems such as cirrhosis and liver cancer years after they're contracted.
Hepatitis B and C spread through sexual contact and through blood from accidental needle sticks and shared needles. Avoid unprotected sex with new partners, and stay away from syringes, except when you're getting shots from a doctor, of course. |

The different types of hepatitis are referred to by a letter, as in hepatitis A or hepatitis b. Transmission of the different viruses occurs in a variety of ways. For example, hepatitis A is usually transmitted through fecal contamination of food, whereas hepatitis b is typically transmitted through sexual contact or shared needles. Hepatitis C is passed through blood, such as through shared needles or through pre-1991 blood transfusions. There are still other forms of hepatitis. One laboratory indication of hepatitis infection is an elevation in liver enzyme levels.

There are more than 300,000 cases of the various forms of hepatitis each year in the United States. hepatitis b is particularly insidious. It is spread like AIDS, sexually and by blood-to-blood contact.
About 5,000 people a year die from hepatitis b, and if you survive it, you're at risk for liver cancer years later. Fortunately, there's now a hepatitis b vaccine. But there are no vaccines for the other forms of hepatitis. |

A report has also appeared in an Italian medical journal which demonstrated that patients with acute viral hepatitis b cleared the hepatitis b surface antigen much more quickly when given 1.8 grams of phosphatidylcholine daily. The trial was a double-blind and randomized one. Another report from the College of Medicine in Ibadan, Nigeria, similarly showed that treatment of patients with acute hepatitis b with 1.8 grams of phosphatidylcholine hastened recovery from this sometimes fatal disease when compared to those patients not treated with the phospholipid. |
