Pottenger controlled the type of food the cats were fed. One group was fed only raw food and unpasteurized milk, while the others were fed a combination of cooked and processed foods. Dr. Pottenger then recorded his observations with exacting measurements and photographs.
The cats fed cooked and pasteurized milk developed common degenerative diseases such a diabetes and arthritis, while the group of cats fed only raw food prospered, living much longer than the cats from the other groups. Dr. |

Specifically, the study shows (reprinted from the abstract): a) a significant dose-related increase of malignant tumor-bearing animals in males, in particular in the group treated at 2000 ppm; b) a significant increase of the incidence in lymphomas/leukemias in males treated at 2000 ppm and a significant dose-related increase of the incidence of lymphomas/leukemias in females, in particular in the group treated at 2000 ppm; c) a significant dose-related increase of the incidence of mammary cancer in females, in particular in the group treated at 2000 ppm. Nuts: This group includes, for example, walnuts, almonds, cashews, pecans, pistachios, macadamia nuts, and Brazil nuts.
7. Cheese: Here I'm referring to hard and soft cheeses of all kinds except cottage cheese, which falls into the meat category. Cottage cheese is lower in acid but provides only about half as much protein as lean meat per equivalent serving.
8. Fruits: The fruit group includes all kinds of whole fruits, including canned and fruit juices. That means 100 percent fruit juices only; fruit-flavored drinks are not fruit juice.

More Pharma Genes in Biotech's DNA
Posted by Jacob Goldstein
The latest roster of executives in charge of the biotech trade group BIO provides further evidence that Big Pharma and biotech are morphing into a single beast.
Today BIO named as vice chair for health care Joseph C. Scodari, the guy who runs Johnson & Johnson's pharmaceutical business. Scodari was running Centocor -- the biotech company that developed Remicade -- in 1999, when the company was acquired by J&J. (Scodari had previously been the group's secretary.) Got that? |

The top seven most affected symptoms were improved fifty-five times more (5,500%) in the active group than in the placebo group.
Purpose of the Study
The study was done to see if taking neurotransmitter precursor lozenges as directed could alleviate the known symptoms of neurotransmitter deficiencies. |

Earth Policy Institute, an environmental group. While the group does some great work in many areas, it misses the point on bottled water: if people weren't buying bottled water in plastic bottles, they'd be buying soft drinks in aluminum cans anyway. There's a container garbage problem either way.
The group also says that tap water is just as good as bottled water, which makes me wonder what they're drinking. Sure, tap water is probably okay if you're a horse (although I would never let my dog drink it). |

This Loma Linda study is the first large-scale study to use human subjects to test the harmful effects of a water pollutant and is "inherently unethical," according to Environmental Working group research director Richard Wiles (Goliszek, Envirnomental Working group).
(2001)
On its website, the FDA admits that its policy to include healthy children in human experiments "has led to an increasing number of proposals for studies of safety and pharmacokinetics, including those in children who do not have the condition for which the drug is intended" (Goliszek).

There was one treatment-related death (within 100 days of therapy) in the HDC group, but none in the conventional chemotherapy group. The women in this trial were highly selected as having the best chance to respond.
There is also no all-encompassing follow-up study like Dr. Abel's that tells us if there is any improvement in cancer-survival statistics since 1989. |

The key here is in recognizing that the control group wasn't really a control group. It was another variable group, where the method of intervention was education rather than supplements. If you teach a thousand senior citizens how to prevent falls, you're going to see a reduction in falls and fractures, regardless of bone mineral density. It could mean that education is a very good strategy -- just as good as supplements. They could be equally effective at preventing bone fractures.
Again, not one of the mainstream press stories that reported this bothered to examine the facts on this study. |

There are no individual stunts—only a group effort, flying together as if with one mind in total synchronistic flow. Then, as if on some invisible cue, they all settle to the ground. Is it shared telepathy that lets them know precisely when to turn so that not one wing flutters adrift, or does their group consciousness come from an ancient imprint embedded in their very essence?

A randomized, double-blind study of 121 insomnia patients showed that those given 600 mg of valerian extract daily for four weeks slept better and were more rested than those in the control group. About 3% of the subjects in both groups reported side effects.
Willard recommends a dose of 300 to 400 mg of valerian extract (standardized to 0.5% of essential oil) taken about 1 hour before bedtime. |

If there's any group of beings on this planet that should be warned about another group of beings, it's the ocean creatures who should be warned about humans. In fact, there should be a large red warning side slapped on the side of the planet, clearly visible to all creatures and interstellar visitors, that reads:
WARNING: Don't feed the humans.
(They haven't yet learned how to clean up after themselves.)
We're still chewing on mercury, for crying out loud. How stupid is that?

A CCD working group was organized recently in hope of finding a solution to the dwindling honeybee population by exploring the potential causes of the honeybee colony collapse epidemic. The group is comprised mainly of university faculty researchers, state regulatory officials, cooperative extension educators and industry representatives. |

The cats fed cooked and pasteurized milk developed common degenerative diseases such a diabetes and arthritis, while the group of cats fed only raw food prospered, living much longer than the cats from the other groups. Dr. Pottenger reported the underlying nutritional factor had to be a substance that was destroyed by the heat used in the cooking and pasteurization processes; the raw foods not exposed to this processing maintained this substance (enzymes), while the cooked and processed food did not. |

What Sheldrake postulates is that for each species there are group energy fields that are held as a group awareness, or a morpho-genetic field. From a consciousness model or perspective, whenever you start to add new information or learning to the data banks of a specific morphic field, a certain critical mass can be reached at some evolutionary point. At this point of critical mass, an entire species can become simultaneously aware of a new pattern of information or behaviors; this feedback system is known as morphic resonance, or popularly, as the so-called hundredth monkey effect. |

Sadly, the WCRF still does not recommend that consumers use nutritional supplements to help protect themselves from cancer, indicating that the group still has a lot to learn about the role of medicinal mushrooms, sea vegetables, microalgae, Chinese herbs, rainforest herbs and superfood extracts in preventing and reversing cancer. But at least the group's recommendation that consumers now avoid all processed meat products is a huge step in the right direction. |

At 24 weeks, researchers found that the improvements had been sustained, with the greatest improvement measured in the hydrotherapy group.
"Hydrotherapy classes appeared to be more acceptable (higher attendance), appeared to provide greater relief of joint pain, and resulted in larger improvements in objective measurements of physical performance," wrote Fransen.
Patients assigned to the hydrotherapy group were more likely to attend classes than those assigned to Tai Chi, which the researchers noted may be due to a lack of familiarity with Tai Chi. |
