| Over 30 years, 450 million mammograms in the United States did not reduce breast cancer deaths but pointlessly increased treatments. [Annals Internal Medicine 138: 768-69, 2003]
In terms of dollars, the Swedish mammographic screening program analyzed 605,260 women who had an aggregate of 1,932,353 mammograms between 1987 and 1996. There were 6,713 deaths due to breast cancer, which amounted to 55 deaths (0.8%) fewer than expected without screening. The cost per life saved was $2.36 million. Over 35,000 mammograms had to be performed to save one life. |

Next, he crosschecked this with the residences of the 54 people who had recently died of cancer and arrived at a startling conclusion: "The completed check of my map confirmed all the beds of the 54 cancer deaths were where I had drawn the radiation currents," von Pohl wrote in 1932 in Earth Currents: Causative Factor of Cancer and Other Diseases.20 Von Pohl also presented dozens of cases in which rapid, perhaps miraculous, cures of numerous complaints, from insomnia to heart spasms, were achieved by simply moving the sleeper's bed out of the geopathic zone. |

In 2007, an estimated 2030 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and 450 men will die of this disease [1], accounting for less than 1% of all malignancies and cancer deaths in men. Although male breast cancer is uncommon, men tend to have a less favorable outcome than women. Advanced stage at diagnosis is largely responsible for these gender differences, given that over 40% of these patients present with stage III or IV disease [5]. However, anatomical differences between male and female breasts also may contribute to the more aggressive clinical behavior of mammary carcinoma in men [4]. |

Seventy-seven percent of new cases and 84% of breast cancer deaths occur in women over age 50. Over 70% of all breast cancer cases occur among women with no identifiable risk factor. [American Journal Preventive Medicine 20:214-8, 2001]
In developed countries, where women live longer on average, and where there is more doctoring and more sophisticated detection (mammograms), the incidence of breast cancer is greater, about 80 per 100,000, compared to 30 per 100,000 in undeveloped countries. |

One-third of the 500,000 cancer deaths in the United States each year can be attributed to poor diet and lack of exercise.
/ Breast and prostate cancers are the most common types in the United States (excluding nonmelanoma skin cancer), followed by lung, colon, and bladder cancer.
/ According to estimates from the American Institute for Cancer Research, if everyone ate at least five servings of vegetables and fruits per day, cancer rates could fall by as much as 20 percent. |

If early diagnosis of prostate cancer really worked, then the mortality rate, or prostate cancer deaths per one hundred thousand in the population, should go down, as more and more men are screened.* There has been a slight drop in the death rate from prostate cancer in recent years, but many cancer epidemiologists and doctors argue that there is little evidence that the PSA test is responsible. That's because tumors come in many types, only some of which are aggressive enough to threaten the patient's life. |

Dietary Fat
Ecological studies have reported that fat in diets varies directly with rates of colon cancer deaths [6]. Whereas many early case-control and cohort studies detected an increased risk of colon cancer with increasing intake of dietary fat [4], more recent cohort [10], large case-control [11], and a pooled analysis of 13 case-control studies [12] have failed to find an association between dietary fat and colon cancer or even reported an inverse association [13]. |

| In one study strawberries topped a list of eight foods most linked to lower rates of cancer deaths among a group of 1,271 elderly people in New Jersey. Those eating the most strawberries were one third as likely to develop cancer as those eating few or no strawberries.
HOW TO SELECT AND STORE
Strawberries are usually available year-round, though they are in greatest abundance from spring through midsummer. Choose berries that are firm, plump, and free of mold, and that have a shiny, deep red color and attached green caps. |

OXALIPLATIN (oks-al-i-PLAT-in) Brand Name: Eloxatin
About Oxaliplatin
Cancer of the large intestine (colon) and rectum is the second leading cause of cancer deaths, with women more likely to develop the former and men the latter. The colon, a big, upside-down U-shape tube inside your belly, carries the food you eat through its final digestive and processing procedures. The food is in a liquid state when it enters the colon, but as it travels up, across, and down this large tube, bacteria convert it into stool. |

FROM FIVE TO FOUR
It may not be coincidental that pancreatic cancer recently moved up to fourth place as a cause of cancer deaths in men and women in the United States.76 In the 1970s and 1980s, researchers studying protease-inhibitor damage on the pancreas noted that pancreatic cancer had then moved up to fifth place and wondered whether there might be a soybean-protease inhibitor connection.77 79 The fact that this ongoing rise has occurred along with a rise in the human consumption of soybeans does not prove cause and effect. |

Tru Ott, sodium fluoride inhibits more than 100 important enzyme functions in the body and is associated with approximately 50,000 cancer deaths per year. The number of deaths in fluoridated water areas, according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control), is 5 percent higher than in non-fluoridated areas. It is so deadly that in 1979 a dentist was sued for the death of a three-year-old child who swallowed a fluoride rinse. Sodium fluoride is not only in water, but in Diet Coke at 2.96 ppm and in 42 percent of ready-to-drink fruit juices. |

In fact, fluoridated cities demonstrated a 10 percent increase in cancer deaths following the first thirteen to seventeen years of fluoridation.
To appreciate the enormity of this number, that means that during this period, for a city the size of San Francisco with 6.6 million people, fluoridation could potentially be responsible for hundreds of new cancers. Who wants to volunteer to be the one to die? But there are no volunteers: fluoridation has been forced on you and millions of others. |

The largest estimates of cancer deaths related to the Chernobyl accident is in the low thousands, with an unknown number of cancer cases yet to present in people who were children at the time of the explosion. About twenty square miles of land became uninhabitable for a long time. In comparison, there were no deaths in the 1979 accident at Three Mile Island, Pennsylvania. Radioactive gases were vented, but there is no accepted evidence that this harmed the public.

It is good news that prostate cancer deaths have been declining for the past ten years, which many experts believe to be the result of better screening and earlier diagnosis. If diagnosed early enough, 99.3 percent of the men diagnosed survive.
Although it is relatively common, in most cases prostate cancer is, fortunately, a slow-growing cancer. Most prostate cancers arise in the rear portion of the prostate gland; the rest originate near the urethra. |

| Even though radiation therapy may cure cancer, nonrelated cancer deaths seem to be a long-term side effect to radiation. Although more people with cancer are now living beyond five years after diagnosis, premature death can be direct result of toxic therapies used to eradicate cancer. We do not recommend that people with head and neck cancer refuse radiation therapy, as it often buys years of extra life. Simply, they should take extra precautions to reduce their risk of stroke. | BLADDER CANCER
Bladder cancer is the fourth most common cancer in males, eighth most common in females, and fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. It is four times more common in men than women, twice as common in Caucasians as in African-Americans, and is usually diagnosed later in life.
Causes and Risk Factors
The cause of bladder cancer is not known. Smoking is the number one factor associated with bladder cancer. |
| The American Cancer Society estimates that of the 500,000 cancer deaths that occur in the United States, about one-third can be attributed to dietary factors, with another third being caused by cigarette smoking. Healthy lifestyle choices at any stage of life are a major step toward cancer prevention. Following are descriptions of some of the major types of cancer, including information about who is affected, what the symptoms are, how these diseases can be detected and diagnosed, and what you can do to reduce your risk of contracting them. |

Burk and Yiamouyiannis conducted a second study of cancer deaths rates in all cities east of the Mississippi River with populations greater than ten thousand, and again found statistically significant elevated death rates in fluoridated cities as compared to unfluoridated cities."9
As a result of these studies, Congress became concerned with the effect of the fluoridation program and began hearings on the subject in 1977. The US Public Health Service tried to allay Congressmen's fears by presenting data that refuted Drs. Burke and Yiamouyiannis' studies. |
