Throughout last summer, Democrats fed into the riots that erupted all around the country following the death of George Floyd in the custody of a Minneapolis police officer. They could have simply decried the incident while calling for peaceful protests as protected by the First Amendment so that business and property owners would not be negatively affected and lives would not be lost.
But they didn't advocate for peace; they advocated for more violence, and that's what they got. And why? Because they believed that the rioting -- and the threat of even more rioting post-election -- would help the party get rid of President Donald Trump, and they were right. No doubt the fear factor led many Americans to vote for Biden so they could avoid the never-ending cycle of violence, chaos and death that was being promised by left-wing Marxist revolutionaries supported by Democrats if Trump had won (we believe he actually did win but that's another story).
In the interim, Democrats have pushed "equitable" "criminal justice reform," all of which is simply code for letting violent criminals off the hook and out of jail, again so they can create more havoc and bring the American people to the brink of begging them to 'make it stop,' at which time they will agree to do so but only through the "fundamental transformation" of our society -- from a representative republic to a tyrannical autocracy or worse where one-party control will become the rule not the exception and our rights will be taken away en masse as a way to 'control violence' and 'control behaviors that lead to violence.'
That may involve, say, emptying all of the country's prisons, which is exactly what lunatics like Rep. Rashida Tlaib want to do.
Tlaib made that clear in an interview with "Axios with HBO" correspondent Jonathan Swan, in which he asked her about her support for the BREATHE Act after playing a clip of her comments.
“In 2020, you endorsed the BREATHE Act, which is a series of proposals to transform America’s criminal justice system and create, quote, ‘a roadmap for prison abolition.’ The BREATHE Act proposes emptying federal detention facilities within 10 years,” Swan asked. “To what extent have you wrestled with any potential downsides of releasing into society every single person who’s currently in a federal prison?”
“Yeah, I think that everyone’s like, ‘Oh my God, we’re going to just release everybody,’” Tlaib replied. “That’s not what I’m—”
“That’s what the act says,” Swan clapped back.
“Yeah, but did you see how many people are mentally ill that are in prison right now,” Tlaib said in response.
“No, I know,” Swan said. “But the act you endorsed actually says release everyone in 10 years. … There are like, human traffickers, child sex [predators]. Do you mean that you don’t actually support that? Because you endorsed the bill.”
“What I’m trying to understand is, your proposal is so sweeping,” Swan said. “It does release everyone.”
“Oh, yeah, within 10 years,” Tlaib explained. “Obviously there’s a process of looking at how we can get away from mass incarceration and move toward care first.”
Following Tlaib's interview, she was roasted by some hosts on Fox News' "The Five," including Jesse Watters.
After co-host Dana Perino played a clip of Tlaib's interview with Swan, she made a reference to the recent tragedy in Waukesha, Wis., where a suspect drove an SUV through a Christmas parade, killing six and injuring more than 60 others, saying, “On the very same day that this is happening, the squad is advocating for even more reforms of this sort.”
“The congresswoman’s an idiot, and she has power, so that makes her a very dangerous idiot,” Watters responded, noting as live footage of the Waukesha suspect, career criminal Darrell Brooks in court, was playing that the suspect was pushing “a lot of anti-Trump, anti-capitalism content” online, as well as “wacky conspiracy theories about Jews and Hitler.”
