WHO drug advisor criticizes cannabis, likens it to heroin addiction, as media follows along, parroting false claims

Medical cannabis
(NaturalNews) In the mainstream media, cannabis perception goes from good to bad and back again. One moment, it's deemed dangerous; the next moment, it's praised as medicine. Many don't know what to think. Its psychoactive component, THC, provides a "high" that is loved by some and criticized by others. But can cannabis use really be likened to heroin addiction?

WHO drug adviser Professor Wayne Hall thinks so. According to his studies, cannabis addiction is similar to heroin addiction and can cause mental health problems. The British addiction expert says that cannabis causes driving impairment and low academic performance. From his 20 years of research, Hall concludes that cannabis can be just as addictive as heroin and can lead to even harder drug use.

WHO drug adviser says cannabis doubles risk of schizophrenia

"If cannabis is not addictive then neither is heroin," he said, saying that one in six adolescents who use cannabis go on to be dependent on it. What's interesting about Hall's findings is that he admits people cannot overdose on it, but that's why he considers it potentially more dangerous than heroin or cocaine, because it is perceived as less dangerous at first glance.

He really cranked up the hysteria in his study, when he reported that cannabis doubles the risk of developing psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia.

Since he is a WHO drug adviser, Professor Hall's criticisms of cannabis were quickly absorbed by the mainstream media and parroted several times, as news networks obediently followed along with the misinformation, propagating lies about the misunderstood cannabis plant.

There is no comparison between heroin addiction and cannabis use

Anyone who's used cannabis and observed the effects of heroin addiction can attest to this: There is no comparison between the two for creating addictive behaviors. While sitting around smoking pot is not the most productive way to spend time, getting a THC high should never be compared to heroin addiction. In fact, being under the influence of alcohol is more addictive and dangerous than a little THC high. While one can overdose on alcohol and end up in a coma, one cannot do the same with cannabis. The myth that cannabis leads to harder drug use is laughable, too, especially considering how it can actually help people get off much harder pharmaceutical drugs that make people dependent.

Pharmaceutical drugs pose greater threat to humanity than cannabis

And that might be the reason why this drug adviser is putting cannabis down. It's the pharmaceutical industry propagating through him that is the motivation and the problem. There is big business to be had keeping people in a state of dependence on pharmaceutical drugs for the rest of their life. Cannabis is one of many natural medicines that will either be downplayed, lied about, suppressed or kept illegal because it actually cures people, allowing them to be self-sufficient with their own healthcare. There's trillions of dollars at stake if the truth is known about cannabis and other healing plants.

Cannabis is really medicine at its core, NOT an addictive drug causing schizophrenia

The truth is that cannabis is not toxic and provides a harmless recreational high. Most importantly, it contains other components than just THC that make it a powerful, all-around medicine. While getting high can be a vice like alcohol, people should be free to be responsible and grow it, eat it, vaporize it and make oils or tinctures to heal their endocannabinoid system in their body. Cannabis is not just THC; it can be bred to contain medicinal cannabidiol (CBDs). CBD works synergistically with THC to provide therapeutic benefits that relieve anxiety, cure seizures and turn off genes that cause cancer cells to metastasize. Furthermore, the endocannabinoid system in the human body helps bridge the communication gap between the nervous system and the immune system. Smart cannabis use may actually be the missing link for restoring proper immune system function in a population that clings to vaccinations.

Why aren't deadly, side-effect-ridden drugs scrutinized?

It's time for the hysteria about the cannabis plant to subside and the truth to be made known. Policies that put people in prison for its use are a mockery of human rights, driving fear into the world. Those in control of propagating misleading research on cannabis should consider their efforts futile and instead divert their attention to the countless pharmaceutical drugs on the market today that are the real poisons making people dependent, causing side effects and death.
