WE ARE WINNING the clean food wars: Food and beverage companies ditch HFCS and toxic ingredients in frantic effort to catch up to the clean food movement

Clean food movement

(NaturalNews) Note to those who work for large food manufacturers: Yes, this is the article you're supposed to forward to your corporate executives. This is your gateway to the pulse of the rapidly growing clean food movement that has now become unstoppable for reasons explained below...

Every time I walk into a grocery store, I see more examples of how we're winning the clean food wars against the corporate food and agriculture giants.

Almost every week, another major food manufacturer or restaurant drops GMOs, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, aspartame or some other toxic additive. Clean food activists are WINNING BIG, and consumer awareness is forcing these large food corporations to clean up their products or lose significant market share to smaller, more nimble companies that disavow the use of offensive ingredients altogether.

Despite all the lies of Monsanto, shameless chemical pushers and lying mainstream media propagandists who parrot Big Food propaganda (i.e. the criminally-run Grocery Manufacturers of America, an industry front group that operatives with the ethics of a sleazy political campaign), consumer awareness of food ingredients is exploding across the globe.

This massive, unstoppable trend is happening because of YOU! While leading clean food activists like Doctor Oz, the Food Babe, the Organic Consumers Association and myself are covering the news and sharing the latest findings, it's grassroots consumers like yourself who are forcing these corporations into cleaning up their labels by removing chemical additives and artificial ingredients from their products.

This movement is unstoppable, and as people learn even more about what's really in their food (including GMOs and glyphosate), they will continue to demand cleaner food labels and greater transparency from food manufacturers. Remember: many of the most dangerous chemicals found in your food aren't labeled at all: Pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, BPA and more. Did you know, by the way, that a lot of today's non-organic wheat products are contaminated with cancer-causing glyphosate? Did you also know that most gluten-free foods are loaded with GMOs?

Check out these recent photos from a grocery store in Texas

As an example of the move toward cleaner food ingredients and labels, CapriSun just announced the removal of HFCS from its product. (By the way, don't misinterpret this as an endorsement of CapriSun. It's still a processed beverage packaged in plastic. You'd be way better off drinking fresh, non-pasteurized juice or eating a raw orange.)

After years of refusing to clean up their products, when big food companies finally cave and reformulate, they usually roll out the new formulation with a "You asked, we listened" type of message.

CapriSun, while being commended for removing HFCS, evidently thinks its customers are incredibly stupid. The company claims "We've also never had any artificial colors, flavors or preservatives" and that you can "see for yourself with our clear-bottom pouch." Seriously?

How you're supposed to "see" flavors or preservatives with your naked eye is beyond me... but apparently the CapriSun company thought it sounded good enough to fool the kind of low-IQ people who actually buy and drink CapriSun in the first place... probably the same people who used to drink Coke but now think pasteurized sugar juice packaged in hormone-mimicking plastic is a "healthy" alternative to Coke and Pepsi.

Two years ago, we exposed "Nursery Water" for being made with added fluoride. It was one of the most insidious products you could buy for any child, and the internet exploded with pictures of the Nursery Water jugs labeled with "fluoride added!"

After being widely mocked across the internet by clean food activists, Nursery Water now offers a purified water products that touts "no added fluoride." This is definitely an improvement:

Shout out to Trader Joe's

By the way, I recently visited a Trader Joe's in Austin, running a surprise Health Ranger audit of their store-branded products to see what kind of ingredients they're using these days.

Guess what? To my surprise and delight, Trader Joe's has made huge strides toward clean food formulations. I examined dozens of their products, and from what I can tell, Trader Joe's has eliminated all partially hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors and many other offensive ingredients from their foods.

Trader Joe's breakfast cereals, for example, use real freeze-dried fruits and are far better than anything made by General Mills, Kelloggs or Post. (I actually bought some Trader Joe's cereals for my own personal consumption. I eat them with home-made almond milk, not the store-bought "junk" almond milk made with carageenan and calcium carbonate...)

Trader Joe's isn't perfect yet: they're still not going non-GMO, and they haven't committed to GMO labeling to my knowledge (Whole Foods promises GMO labeling store-wide by 2018). So there's room for improvement, but I have to commend Trader Joe's for being way ahead of the curve on the clean food front.

The Texas HEB brand "Central Market" is also churning out some really pioneering clean food products as well. HEB stores across the state are also being retrofitted with health food aisles. I've even seen vegan protein and coconut oil in these stores!

Keep up the momentum... we all deserve clean, safe and honestly labeled food

Keep up the great work, everybody! The more you share the truth about clean food and the toxicity of chemical additives (and glyphosate), the more these corporations will fall over each other to see who can clean up their labels the quickest.

In the end, we all win when the food supply is less toxic. That's why I urge you to follow these two simple steps:

1) REWARD companies that make clean food products by purchasing their products and spreading the word about their clean labels.

2) BOYCOTT companies that keep pushing processed foods made with GMOs, artificial additives or toxic ingredients.

If you simply do these two things on a consistent basis, you will be part of a powerful movement that's forcing corporations to pull the toxic ingredients from their products and replace them with safer, more wholesome ingredients.

Spread the word: Natural News is your clean food news pioneer, and we're even expanding our food science laboratory this year (announcement coming soon) to be able to conduct more off-the-shelf food investigations in the public interest.

I can't wait to bring you that announcement soon...

About the author:Mike Adams (aka the "Health Ranger") is a best selling author (#1 best selling science book on Amazon.com) and a globally recognized scientific researcher in clean foods. He serves as the founding editor of NaturalNews.com and the lab science director of an internationally accredited (ISO 17025) analytical laboratory known as CWC Labs. There, he was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for achieving extremely high accuracy in the analysis of toxic elements in unknown water samples using ICP-MS instrumentation. Adams is also highly proficient in running liquid chromatography, ion chromatography and mass spectrometry time-of-flight analytical instrumentation.

Adams is a person of color whose ancestors include Africans and Native American Indians. He's also of Native American heritage, which he credits as inspiring his "Health Ranger" passion for protecting life and nature against the destruction caused by chemicals, heavy metals and other forms of pollution.

Adams is the founder and publisher of the open source science journal Natural Science Journal, the author of numerous peer-reviewed science papers published by the journal, and the author of the world's first book that published ICP-MS heavy metals analysis results for foods, dietary supplements, pet food, spices and fast food. The book is entitled Food Forensics and is published by BenBella Books.

In his laboratory research, Adams has made numerous food safety breakthroughs such as revealing rice protein products imported from Asia to be contaminated with toxic heavy metals like lead, cadmium and tungsten. Adams was the first food science researcher to document high levels of tungsten in superfoods. He also discovered over 11 ppm lead in imported mangosteen powder, and led an industry-wide voluntary agreement to limit heavy metals in rice protein products.

In addition to his lab work, Adams is also the (non-paid) executive director of the non-profit Consumer Wellness Center (CWC), an organization that redirects 100% of its donations receipts to grant programs that teach children and women how to grow their own food or vastly improve their nutrition. Through the non-profit CWC, Adams also launched Nutrition Rescue, a program that donates essential vitamins to people in need. Click here to see some of the CWC success stories.

With a background in science and software technology, Adams is the original founder of the email newsletter technology company known as Arial Software. Using his technical experience combined with his love for natural health, Adams developed and deployed the content management system currently driving NaturalNews.com. He also engineered the high-level statistical algorithms that power SCIENCE.naturalnews.com, a massive research resource featuring over 10 million scientific studies.

Adams is well known for his incredibly popular consumer activism video blowing the lid on fake blueberries used throughout the food supply. He has also exposed "strange fibers" found in Chicken McNuggets, fake academic credentials of so-called health "gurus," dangerous "detox" products imported as battery acid and sold for oral consumption, fake acai berry scams, the California raw milk raids, the vaccine research fraud revealed by industry whistleblowers and many other topics.

Adams has also helped defend the rights of home gardeners and protect the medical freedom rights of parents. Adams is widely recognized to have made a remarkable global impact on issues like GMOs, vaccines, nutrition therapies, human consciousness.

In addition to his activism, Adams is an accomplished musician who has released over a dozen popular songs covering a variety of activism topics.
