California Health Department denounces natural immunity, warns against 'measles parties'

(NaturalNews) Efforts by some parents in California to impart natural immunity in their children by hosting so-called "measles parties" are being frowned upon by state health authorities, which would rather these children be injected with a potentially deadly vaccine instead.

The California Department of Public Health admits that it doesn't know much about the popularity or frequency of measles parties but warns that they could make an outbreak that has reportedly affected about 100 children worse than it already is.

"CDPH strongly recommends against the intentional exposure of children to measles as it unnecessarily places the exposed children at potentially grave risk and could contribute to further spread," reads a statement issued by agency spokeswoman Anita Gore.

Much like with chicken pox, the idea behind measles parties is to expose children at a young age to the natural measles virus, which is typically mild in individuals with healthy immune systems supported by proper nutrition, in order to trigger a natural immune response and induce lifelong immunity.

It's something that parents used to do quite frequently back in the day before there was a measles vaccine, and nobody thought anything of it. Measles exposure was a fairly common rite of passage, if you will, for many young children growing up in the early-to-mid 20th century -- a natural vaccine, if you will.

Measles isn't that big of a deal if you're healthy and take care of yourself

But with all the measles hysteria going on today, you would think that a measles party involved lining children up in front of a firing squad and executing them. Somehow, a chicken pox-like illness that typically goes away in just a couple of days -- and imparted permanent immunity! -- has evolved into some kind of deadly contagion for which the entire world needs to be vaccinated.

The truth that CDPH and other so-called health "authorities" aren't telling you is that, if your immune system is functioning normally, measles really isn't much of a threat to you. In fact, many healthy people exposed to the virus won't even develop symptoms, and if they do they'll more than likely be mild.

"In general, measles is considered to be a mild disease of childhood," explains the Maine Association of Naturopathic Doctors, noting that high-dose vitamin A therapy (or eating high amounts of vitamin A-rich foods) along with fluid replacement is a highly effective treatment option.

Measles vaccine is more dangerous than measles

But we have a vaccine for measles, so why don't parents just use that to impart immunity rather than expose their children to the wild-type virus? If only it was this simple. Unfortunately, the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine being pushed as the solution to measles comes with a laundry list of potential side effects, including vaccine-type measles infection.

Historical data show that the death rate from measles in the U.S. prior to the introduction of the vaccine was already approaching zero. Based on the American population in 1963 when the measles vaccine was introduced, a mere 0.000237% of people died from the condition. Similarly, the death rate from measles globally is 0.00328%.

Meanwhile, there have been at least 108 deaths from the MMR vaccine reported in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System over the past 10 years, with no deaths reported from wild-type measles during this time. With VAERS cases representing as little as 1 percent of the actual number of cases (most of which go unreported), the total number of MMR deaths could be a high as 10,800!

"Only about 1 percent of serious events [adverse drug reactions] are reported to the FDA," once stated former Food and Drug Administration head Dr. David Kessler.
