(NaturalNews) Conventional medicine tells us the top risk factors for heart disease include: age, gender, family history, high cholesterol, hypertension and obesity. But, by the end of this article, you'll soon see why this is all wrong! (Allow me to explain)

Your age is NOT a threat to your health. In reality, the science of epigenetics clearly proves that lifestyle habits actually determine health outcomes, not age and gender. On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman and Steven Masley, MD outline a '30-day plan' to REVERSE heart disease naturally.

Four of the best ways to avoid coronary artery disease

To this day, the leading (preventable) killer of men and women in the Western world is heart disease. But, with all of our technology and intelligence, why is cardiovascular disease still such a problem? Could we be looking in the wrong direction? Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding yes!

Conventional cardiology seems fixated on the symptoms of disease such as, high cholesterol levels, hypertension and obesity - without looking at the underlying cause of these conditions. For example, when a person presents symptoms, like high blood pressure, to their doctor - the first 'solution' is toxic medications. But, this never gets to the heart of the matter. (Pun intended)

If you want to reverse coronary artery disease (and avoid a heart attack), here are the best ways to improve your health.

Nutrition - Eat organic food, which helps you avoid toxic chemicals; reduce free radical damage of the circulatory system; and provides delicious, nutritional value. Don't eat genetically manipulated food ingredients, often called GMOs - which increase the risk of leaky gut and reduce your ability to absorb heart healthy nutrients.

Exercise - Dr. Kenneth Cooper, the "Father of Aerobics" plus many other health experts urge us to enjoy just 30 minutes of 'moderate' exercise, like brisk walking, 5 times per week. That's just 2.5 hours - every seven days. Bottom line, pick a physical activity (you enjoy) and get started today!

Reduce your stress - Chronic stress can cause rapid (and irregular) heart beats, high blood pressure, restricted blood flow to vital organs, elevated blood sugar and a variety of health problems like depression and memory loss. If you're looking to 'de-stress', don't underestimate the power of mediation, yoga or quiet time in nature to dramatically improve your health.

Unconditional love and compassion - This point can't be emphasized enough. Too often, we feel 'unloved' or stressed-out due to feelings of guilt or social pressures. Generally speaking, especially when dealing with heart problems, poor health equals a 'love deficiency'. Surround yourself with supportive people and be mindful of your reactions to life. Simply put, take it easy on yourself and focus on enjoying life more. You're worth it!

On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman and Steven Masley, MD reveal a simple, easy-to-follow strategic plan to REVERSE heart disease naturally.

Should heart disease patients be concerned about cholesterol?

Obviously, very high cholesterol levels (280 or greater) can increase your risk of having a heart attack and should be avoided at all cost. Unfortunately, most people believe that the lower a cholesterol number is the better. But, here's where it gets a little 'tricky'.

According to Thomas E. Levy, MD, "cholesterol levels rise because they are one of the body's natural defense mechanisms against a wide variety of toxins. The higher the toxin presence, the higher the cholesterol goes to help block/neutralize the increased oxidative stress coming from those toxins."

In other words, it's always better to identify (and minimize) the source of all toxins - from entering the body - like infected root canal teeth and chemical-laced (non-organic) foods. And, at the same time, increase the amount of antioxidant-rich foods consumed to prevent free radical damage.
