(NaturalNews) Dana Trentini, MA, the "Hypothyroid Mom," is scheduled to speak at The Thyroid Summit, an online event which begins June 2 and runs through June 9. Her presentation will be titled "Fertility, Pregnancy and Postpartum Thyroid Issues."
According to her bio, Trentini was diagnosed with hypothyroidism the year following the birth of her first son in 2006.
She wrote on her website: "Low thyroid symptoms overtook my life. I was overwhelmed with fatigue. The pregnancy weight was impossible to lose. My hair was falling out. The heels of my feet were cracked and my scalp itched. My legs were numb to the touch. Unusually heavy menstrual bleeding, chronic constipation, and constant infections plagued me. Kidney stones landed me in the emergency room. A healthy woman prior to pregnancy now I had blood levels indicating I was at high risk for a heart attack and pre-diabetic. What had happened to me?"

Continuing, she said: "I trusted my doctors implicitly and followed their thyroid drug protocol to the letter never once thinking they might not know everything there was to know about hypothyroidism. I trusted them as the experts especially when I became pregnant again in late 2008. I assumed that in New York City, one of the greatest cities in the world, doctors would have all the answers.
"I would later learn that my Ivy League medical school trained and top awarded doctors did not know enough about hypothyroidism, especially the dangers of hypothyroidism and pregnancy. Under their care my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), the gold standard for measuring thyroid function, reached levels far above the recommended reference range for pregnancy endangering the life of my fetus and I miscarried.
"How could I have trusted my doctors unquestioningly and not taken my health into my own hands?
"I will live with that regret the rest of my life."
Trentini graduated in 1993 with an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from the University of Toronto with High Distinction, receiving multiple scholarships and prestigious awards. She worked for several years as a high school science teacher for intellectually gifted students.
At Columbia University in 2002, she obtained an MA in Organizational Psychology and an EdM in Counseling Psychology. A distinguished Columbia University professor selected her as the team leader for his research team during the course of her studies.
"I was no stranger to scientific research. So why hadn't I used my science background and research skills to learn everything I could about my thyroid disease?" she asked.

These are the subjects Trentini will cover:
What tests you should insist for before and during pregnancy.
What steps to take before trying to conceive.
The connection between infertility and hypothyroidism.
More than half of the population is suffering from thyroid problems, according to the event website. The summit will feature some 30 presentations about common medical problems tied to thyroid disease. In them, you'll learn why the thyroid gland is the master gland in your body -- every cell depends on thyroid hormone to function optimally.
If you're not aware of a thyroid problem, you could develop psychological, cardiovascular and neurological disorders. Medications for a variety of symptoms will never solve the problem, but optimizing your thyroid hormone with vitamins, minerals, dietary changes and the right medications can.
This summit will provide you with all the information you need to optimize thyroid function and stop the suffering once and for all:
--Learn why conventional medicine misses the diagnosis.
--Find out which thyroid tests will properly evaluate thyroid function.
--Educate yourself and learn how to speak with your medical professionals.
--Access safe and effective natural remedies from over 30 world-leading authorities.
