MSNBC scraping the gutter with new low: Liberal host Bashir says people should s**t and urinate in Sarah Palin's mouth

(NaturalNews) MSNBC, the network filled with "tolerant" liberal hosts, continues its race to the bottom in terms of offering anything substantive or useful to the political debate.

One of the network's hosts, actor and uber lib Alec Baldwin, always the hothead, recently had his show suspended over anti-gay comments he spewed off the air. Now, network colleague Martin Bashir has told his audience that former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin should be held down while someone sh**s and urinates in her mouth.

As Breitbart News previously reported, Bashir's rant was in reference to a slavery-era punishment he referred to as "Darby's dose," because Palin recently compared the massive (and growing) federal debt to slavery, but in a general - not racial - sense.

Here is Breitbart's description of Bashir's rant:

He gave an example in Thomas Thistlewood, an overseer of slaves at a major plantation in Jamaica in the 1700s. Bashir said that in his diary, Thistlewood wrote, "A slave named Darby catched eating canes; had him well flogged and pickled, then made Hector, another slave, s-h-i-t in his mouth."

Bashir said this became known as "Darby's dose, a punishment invented by Thistlewood that spoke only of the slave owner's savagery and inhumanity."

"And he mentions a similar incident again in 1756, this time in relation to a man he refers to as Punch," Bashir continued. "'Flogged Punch well, and then washed and rubbed salt pickle, lime juice and bird pepper; made Negro Joe piss in his eyes and mouth.' I could go on, but you get the point."

In concluding his segment, Bashir said when Palin "invoked slavery, she doesn't just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms that if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, then she would be the outstanding candidate [emphasis added]."

How's that for class?

As long as you're a favored lefty, you can get by with saying offensive things

As Tony Lee at Breitbart notes:

Bashir's rant was prompted after Palin said last Saturday that if the country continues to borrow money, "It's going to be like slavery when that note is due."

"We're going to be beholden to a foreign master... because there is no plan coming out of Washington, D.C. to stop the incurrence of debt, is there?" she said. According to Merriam-Webster's dictionary, one of the definitions of "slavery" is "submission to a dominating influence," which is something Bashir would know because he also made a slavery comparison in 2011. In addition, Occupy Wall Street protesters have likened the debt to slavery.

As for Baldwin, well, he used the term "c**k sucking f*g" last week during his latest meltdown on the streets of New York City. Following reports of the incident, MSNBC at least had the good sense to suspend "Up Late with Alec Baldwin" for at least two weeks. But a day or two later, Baldwin tweeted that his show "may not come back."

The left - intellectually bankrupt as ever

Left-wing organizations have been quick to give these clowns a pass. Hypocritically, they try to redirect the issue away from the one at hand to a straw man that they create in order to provide them political cover.

"For instance," Lee wrote, "Dan Savage, who targets any conservative he deems to be a bigot, tweeted Breitbart News Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro and said though Baldwin was a 'homophobic bigot,' he gets a pass because he supports same-sex marriage."

Also, Breitbart's Warner Todd Huston reminds us:

Alec Baldwin isn't the first MSNBC personality to receive a suspension for boorish behavior. In 2011, host Ed Schultz was suspended for calling conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham a "slut."

The fact is, whether or not you agree with Palin politically is not the point.

The point is, she has a right to her own opinion - the same as Bashir has a right to his, and we all have a right to ours. Not all opinions are the same, obviously. Not all are informed. But either way, to denigrate another human being in this fashion is not simply a matter of bad taste but is typical of an ideologue who must resort to such inane insults and attacks because he doesn't have the brain power to debate Ms. Palin on the merits of her argument(s).
