Swansea: An outbreak of misinformation, not measles

(NaturalNews) According to the state-controlled media of the UK, Swansea is currently under the grip of an epidemic of a potentially fatal disease. A BBC report stated that the epidemic is the result of parents failing to immunize their children with the MMR vaccine due to concerns over autism. The BBC report then stated that this belief is due to a "discredited" report by Dr Andrew Wakefield and there is no proven link between the MMR vaccine and autism.

The reason for the increased ill effects of measles is more complicated. As recently as the 1980s the consensus among doctors in the UK was that if children caught measles then they should play with their friends to ensure "heard immunity" was gained within the community. Many parents saw this as a rite of passage for most children as measles was caught just like chicken pox or the usual colds and sniffles, as the child built their immunity. This approach was very effective, free and with the introduction of better sanitation, central heating and better nutrition, it was safe too.

Unfortunately Big Pharma did not see the benefits of a free approach to disease control and sought to use scare tactics to push an expensive and unnecessary vaccine. The number of deaths from measles had fallen rapidly because of better living conditions before the release of the first measles vaccine. The introduction of the vaccine was accompanied by propaganda which claimed that since its introduction, deaths from measles had fallen. The data used for these claims was taken from before the introduction of the vaccine and the report did not take into account the fall in deaths before the vaccine was introduced.

Economy and social issues contribute to ill health

Swansea is a coastal town in south Wales. Whilst some areas of Swansea are beautiful, like many coastal towns the area is not affluent and there is a significant population of unemployed people in state funded social housing. The conditions in some of these social housing areas are appalling with damp rooms and cramped conditions. Many families have only one room in which both parents and children sleep. In addition to this, the welfare is minimal and with few jobs available the families are trapped in poverty. As in any area of deprivation, drugs and alcohol are also a problem, leading to a range of related illnesses.

The greatest influence on the level at which a disease harms a person is down to the living conditions and diet that person is subjected to. For any person in a warm, dry and clean home with a healthy diet, the effects of measles is a few days feeling unwell followed by a rapid recovery. (The symptoms clear within four to 10 days dependent upon age). However with poverty now common in the UK the effects of measles have increased.

The BBC has lied about the link between MMR and autism, with civil courts in the UK, US and Italy finding in favor of parents claiming that MMR made their children autistic. The media are merely an advertising network, scaring parents into immunizing their children. They are pushy salesmen forcing a customer to make a quick decision for fear of losing out so that they do not have the time for the necessary research that would prove that the product they are being sold is dangerous and unnecessary.
