(NaturalNews) One of the best ways to fight tyranny is by educating yourself, and now our very own editor-in-chief, Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, is doing his part to help inform the masses about the Constitution's Second Amendment, in the words of the founding fathers.
Adams and others have just completed a video in which they document the true meaning of the right to keep and bear arms enshrined in the Constitution by quoting the founders verbatim.
In one segment, Adams cites James Madison, the nation's fourth president, a key writer of the Federalist Papers and a drafter of the Bill of Rights, as he explained the purpose behind the Second Amendment in The Federalist Papers No. 46: The Constitution preserves
"the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation...(where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."
In another segment, Adams quotes Samuel Adams, the fourth governor of Massachusetts who led the Boston Tea Party and the Sons of Liberty:
"The Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms."
The video was not entirely dedicated to quotes about arms by the founders. The video's producers included several gun-related quotes by some of the 20th century's most vile, ruthless dictators.
Quoting the most murderous of all Soviet premiers, Joseph Stalin, Adams recited,
"Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns; why should we let them have ideas?"
Other founding father quotes in the video include:
-- I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. Who is the militia? Are they not ourselves? To disarm the people, that is the best and most effective way to enslave them. -- George Mason, Virginia delegate to the Constitutional Convention who drafted that state's Declaration of Rights in 1776.
-- Congress hath no power to disarm the militia. Their swords and every other terrible implement of the soldier are the birthright of an American. -- Tench Coxe, delegate to the Continental Congress.
-- A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government. -- George Washington, commanding general of the Continental Army and the country's first president.
The video goes on to point out that without a means to protect and defend themselves, populations throughout history have become victims of despotic leaders.
Per Stalin,
"One death is a tragedy; one million is a statistic."
An anonymous American colloquialism says,
"When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns."
"In earlier times, it was easier to control one million people than to physically kill one million people; today, it is infinitely easier to kill one million people than to control one million people," observed President Jimmy Carter's national security adviser, Polish-born Zbigniew Brzezinski.
The point is, the Second Amendment is the only one that gives Americans the divinely-inspired ability to uphold and defend all of the other amendments in the Constitution. To allow it to be manipulated or bargained away is to put the nation's future in peril.
