I've been told 'that's considered proprietary information' and 'we don't give out that type of information' from a few. Make no mistake... the country of origin of pet food ingredients is not proprietary information and considering the deadly pet food recall last year, this is one question you need to know the answer to.

If you are thinking the 'problem' with China has been solved, consider this: the U.S. Olympic Team, for the first time in history, will have a private cafeteria in Beijing serving all 'shipped from home' food. The U.S. Olympic chefs tested local foods and discovered enough steroids to put the athletes at risk for suspicion of drug use. If your pet is eating a food or treat that was made in China or contains any ingredients from China or similar risk countries –- change foods!

Not all imported pet food ingredients are potentially dangerous. Canada and New Zealand for example are common exporters of pet food ingredients that have a history of high quality and safety standards. Other than a small handful of safe exporting countries providing difficult to obtain pet food ingredients (venison, lamb, ect.), your pet's food manufacturer should be proud to tell you that all ingredients are U.S. made and grown. Any pet food manufacturer that shops for the cheapest import is acting reckless with your pet's health.
