Using a special macro lens and camera flash unit, Adams was able to capture the Yard-O-Beef product in astonishing detail: Black specs emerge with frightening clarity, fat blobs ooze out of tissue caves, and string-like tissue strands seem to be reaching skyward from the surface of the meat products. The images were so frightening that Adams mixed a collage of the photos with a trash beat music track and posted the video on YouTube:

Virtually all processed meat products contain sodium nitrite, Adams says, and that chemical additive has been linked to pancreatic cancer, colon cancer and breast cancer. The World Cancer Research Fund recently completed a review of over 5,000 studies on the link between meat consumption and cancer, concluding that there is no safe level of processed meat consumption and that all consumers should avoid processed meat forever (unless they want cancer). This is the first time that any large global health group has specifically warned consumers about the health dangers of processed meats.
"The most diseased people I've seen are also consumers of processed meat products," Adams said. "It's very clear to me, based on considerable research, that consuming processed meat greatly enhances your risk of various cancers. This stuff is not only disgusting; it's also a very clear danger to your health!"
Boycott Processed Meat ProductsAdams urges all shoppers to boycott processed meat products this Christmas season, opting instead for eco-friendly, all-natural gifts such as superfoods from companies like www.Sunfood.com or www.TransitionNutrition.com or www.GoodCauseWellness.com
Adams also reminds consumers that if they give gifts made of processed meats, they are indirectly giving people an increased risk of pancreatic cancer and colon cancer. "Giving someone a gift of processed meat is actually more like a curse than a gift," Adams said. "And beyond the cancer issue, there's also the increased risk of heart disease as well as the environmental implications of following a meat-based diet. Getting rid of meat in their diet is the single most powerful thing consumers can do right now to protect the planet against global warming and climate change."
For those consumers who still choose to purchase meat, Adams urges them to check the ingredients labels for "sodium nitrite" -- the chemical additive that many researchers believe to be responsible for much of the increased cancer risk of processed meat products. "Eating sodium nitrite is quite simply dangerous to your health," Adams said. "Consumers who still want to eat meat products should look for nitrite-free meats, which are often available in the frozen foods or natural foods section of a grocery store."
