Now a new company has resurrected the formula and, in fact, improved it! The company is called Fitura (www.Fitura.com) and the product is "Power Immune." The owner of Fitura (Edwin Veelo) sent me two sample bottles several months ago, and I've had the opportunity to use this product several times since then. Here's what I found: The taste tells you it's medicinalThe taste of the Fitura Power Immune product is just as it should be: Intense, complex and slightly bitter. There's a lot going on in there, with the herbal ingredients acting in synergy. It's not nearly as intense as, say, John Barron's super garlic tincture from Baseline Nutritionals, but that's okay since not everybody can handle that level of herbal intensity. Fitura's Power Immune is certainly far more potent than a lot of the herbal products found in retail, many of which are watery and seem to contain very little actual herbage. The ingredients in Power Immune are: • Echinacea Purpurea • Licorice • Cat's Claw • Green Tea • Shitake Mushroom • St. John's Wort • Lemon Balm • Olive Leaf • Astragalus • Ginger • Garlic • Onion If you'll notice, each one of these ingredients is anti-viral by itself. Cat's Claw and Green Tea also have strong anti-cancer properties. Licorice helps stabilize blood sugar, Shitake mushroom is an immunomodulator, and St. John's Wort is a wonderful mood booster that works better than antidepressant drugs. So there are other benefits provided by these ingredients, beyond their anti-viral effects. One note of caution, however: Because it contains St. John's Wort, be aware that this herb can potentiate many synthetic chemicals (prescription drugs), making them even more dangerous than they are normally. You should check with your naturopathic physician before taking prescription drugs with St. John's Wort. The good news is that if you take St. John's Wort, you can probably eliminate antidepressant drugs entirely. If you take Power Immune on a regular basis, you'll also notice an improvement in triglycerides and cholesterol levels (thanks to the garlic and ginger ingredients), meaning you might also be able to transition off your statin drugs. In fact, there are a number of pharmaceuticals made obsolete by the ingredients found in Power Immune. But that's not the purpose of this product. It's not meant as an all-around herbal supplement. It has one purpose: To save you from colds, flus and infectious disease. Beating infectious disease with herbal ingredientsPower Immune is extremely effective at protecting you from infectious disease. I've had the chance to test this twice on myself after picking up a bug at the local gym. Engaging in a heavy workout in an enclosed environment creates an easy opportunity for acquiring colds or flus. You're sweaty, breathing heavily and exhausted. Your immune system is suppressed from all the exertion. That's when a bug gets in and starts to replicate. In a matter of hours, you might start to feel the early symptoms of a cold coming on: Sore throat, achy back, fatigue, etc.
