A diabetes epidemic is overtaking the United States and the rest of the world. In less than 20 years, governments and social security systems may go broke paying expenses generated by this preventable illness. Diabetes cases are expected to double before the year 2025, and their health care costs will increase from $163 billion per year to $396 billion or more.
