Meat preservatives implicated in New Zealand's diabetes crisis

New research from the University of Auckland claims that preservatives known as nitrites and nitrates, commonly used in meat products, are responsible for the growing number of diabetes cases in New Zealand, where in the last 20 years incidence of type 1 diabetes has doubled.
