  • I have tried ways to relieve the pain other than the painkiller, but unfortunately they have not worked.
  • I have been using all kinds of different methods of getting rid of the heartburn, but the other day I went back to one I want to share that makes all the difference in the world: Ginger, just plain old ginger root.
  • For some reason, this is one of the best remedies for heartburn, nausea and motion sickness.
  • Making the tea I drink is relatively easy and has been most effective for me drinking it slightly warm -- not hot.
  • I grate about a teaspoon of fresh ginger root for each cup of tea and put it in a ceramic teapot.
  • I bring water almost to a boil and pour it over the ginger in the teapot and let in steep for 10 minutes.
  • Then I pour the tea through a small strainer into a cup and I add a little honey, stevia or Splenda and sip.
  • For some reason it seems to work better if I just sip it.
  • I have also been taking some crystallized ginger with me when I am out and about and I start to feel the pain coming on.
  • Echinacea is used as a root and called an herb.
  • Increase the ginger and reduce the amount of water and mix the concentrate with hot water when you want to make a cup of the tea.
  • I have taken both the crystallized ginger with me when I am away from home as well as a thermos of the ginger tea.
  • But you could take a little of the concentrate if you are going to be on a trip and just mix in a little hot water at a restaurant.
