TiVo buys patents from IBM; company increases intellectual property in the television industry

TiVo, the digital video recorder company based in California, bought six patents from IBM relating to a number of television technologies involving audience research, internet integration and others. The move increases TiVo’s portfolio of DVR technologies to improve its licensing business model. To date, TiVo has 76 patents, with 106 patents still pending.
