Nanotechnology will boom in next five years, study says

A recent study by Helmut Kaiser Consultancy found that nanotechnology in the food industry is estimated to leap from $2.6 billion a year today to $20.4 billion in 2010. Nanotechnology has been found to dramatically increase the shelf life of foods, and packaging called nanoencapsulation can ensure the timely, controlled release of inner contents. Nanotechnology is expected to boom once the food and medical industries fully realize its benefits.
