Not too long ago, scientists laughed in disgust at the very idea that the Earth's magnetic fields could flip. Today, of course, we know it as a scientific fact. The planet's magnetic fields have flipped hundreds of times in the past, and they're accelerating towards yet another flip.

What does it all mean for humans?
