Nearly three years ago, I recommended an anti-viral tincture product from a small company that has since closed its doors. It was one of my favorite herbal tincture products: A combination of twelve proven anti-viral herbs like cat's claw, olive leaf, astragalus, garlic and lemon balm. I found that this combination clobbered viruses with a barrage of synergistic phytochemicals, and no virus could resist its effects (it worked for me 100% of the time).

Now a new company has resurrected the formula and, in fact, improved it! The company is called Fitura (www.Fitura.com) and the product is "Power Immune." The owner of Fitura (Edwin Veelo) sent me two sample bottles several months ago, and I've had the opportunity to use this product several times since then. Here's what I found:

The taste tells you it's medicinal

The taste of the Fitura Power Immune product is just as it should be: Intense, complex and slightly bitter. There's a lot going on in there, with the herbal ingredients acting in synergy. It's not nearly as intense as, say, John Barron's super garlic tincture from Baseline Nutritionals, but that's okay since not everybody can handle that level of herbal intensity. Fitura's Power Immune is certainly far more potent than a lot of the herbal products found in retail, many of which are watery and seem to contain very little actual herbage.

The ingredients in Power Immune are:

• Echinacea Purpurea
• Licorice
• Cat's Claw
• Green Tea
• Shitake Mushroom
• St. John's Wort
• Lemon Balm
• Olive Leaf
• Astragalus
• Ginger
• Garlic
• Onion

If you'll notice, each one of these ingredients is anti-viral by itself. Cat's Claw and Green Tea also have strong anti-cancer properties. Licorice helps stabilize blood sugar, Shitake mushroom is an immunomodulator, and St. John's Wort is a wonderful mood booster that works better than antidepressant drugs. So there are other benefits provided by these ingredients, beyond their anti-viral effects.

One note of caution, however: Because it contains St. John's Wort, be aware that this herb can potentiate many synthetic chemicals (prescription drugs), making them even more dangerous than they are normally. You should check with your naturopathic physician before taking prescription drugs with St. John's Wort. The good news is that if you take St. John's Wort, you can probably eliminate antidepressant drugs entirely. If you take Power Immune on a regular basis, you'll also notice an improvement in triglycerides and cholesterol levels (thanks to the garlic and ginger ingredients), meaning you might also be able to transition off your statin drugs. In fact, there are a number of pharmaceuticals made obsolete by the ingredients found in Power Immune.

But that's not the purpose of this product. It's not meant as an all-around herbal supplement. It has one purpose: To save you from colds, flus and infectious disease.

Beating infectious disease with herbal ingredients

Power Immune is extremely effective at protecting you from infectious disease. I've had the chance to test this twice on myself after picking up a bug at the local gym. Engaging in a heavy workout in an enclosed environment creates an easy opportunity for acquiring colds or flus. You're sweaty, breathing heavily and exhausted. Your immune system is suppressed from all the exertion. That's when a bug gets in and starts to replicate. In a matter of hours, you might start to feel the early symptoms of a cold coming on: Sore throat, achy back, fatigue, etc.

When this happened to me, I grabbed the Fitura Power Immune and swallowed six dropper fulls. I also slammed some zinc, 2000mg of vitamin C, plus a round of Chinese herbs like cinnamon and Dang Gui. When fighting cold symptoms, I also eat or drink nothing cold and consume only hot or warm foods and beverages. The next morning, all my symptoms were completely gone, never to return.

I experienced this twice over the last few months. In both cases, the Power Immune product helped me beat an oncoming flu overnight, with zero symptoms the next day. Most people, of course, try to beat their colds by masking the symptoms with over-the-counter drugs such as cough syrup (a completely useless product), sinus medication (which only dries out your sinuses while doing nothing to fight the infection), or even antibiotics (which are so overprescribed by doctors that they have become a threat to the safety of patients). They end up feeling lousy for 3 - 7 days, and the cold symptoms overtake them from head to toe, landing them in bed and causing them to miss work or family time. Most consumers walk around in a state that's highly susceptible to colds and flus.

But with the help of some botanical defenders, you can greatly enhance your ability to overcome such infections, reducing your down time to a single night instead of a whole week. Thanks to products like Power Immune, I haven't experienced any sort of severe cold or flu in many years. Nothing has kept me sick in bed. Sure, I've had symptoms, but I fought them off with a strong immune system bolstered by botanical medicine.

This product really works. Take it as soon as you detect cold symptoms coming on (don't wait!) and keep taking it every four hours until your cold is gone. You'll notice a significant improvement in your ability to overcome colds or flus.

Where to get Power Immune

Fitura sells 3 bottles for $49.95 on their website: www.Fitura.com

California residents pay sales tax, but for everyone else, you only have to pay shipping. It ships in 2 oz. tincture bottles suitable for short- or long-term storage.

You probably already know this, but I earn nothing from the sale of these products. Nobody has paid me to write this article, and my recommendation of this product is truly independent, based entirely on my desire to help NewsTarget readers have access to outstanding products.

How it could be better

The Power Immune product is impressive. I openly recommend it to everyone as an addition to their first aid kit or as a preparation against infectious disease (see below). But it could be improved in a couple of ways.

If the ingredients were all certified organic, that would make it even better. Unfortunately, that would necessarily raise the price, making it cost perhaps 50% more, so there's always a trade-off on ingredients vs. cost. Since this isn't a food that you eat every day, I'm not so concerned about it not being certified organic.

Secondly, it could be improved a bit in terms of its potency. It's certainly more potent than most of the herbal products I've seen in retail, but it's not as potent as products from companies like Baseline Nutritionals, which has the most potent herbal tincture products I've ever tasted. Of course, when the potency goes up, so does the cost (and the price), so here again, we're talking about a tradeoff in price vs. potency.

Overall, Power Immune is a good value for what it delivers, and the product technology really works.

The many uses of Power Immune

The following uses are not necessarily endorsed or claimed by the manufacturer, they're simply my own opinion on how this product can be used.

• For first aid: I've used this tincture on scrapes and wounds as a simple antibacterial cleanser. There are no chemical first aid products in my house; I've thrown them all out and replaced them with herbal products (or aloe vera). This Power Immune is one of my favorites. I consider it a first aid antibacterial product. Of course, it does contain alcohol (a natural part of the tincture), which means it's going to burn a bit on open wounds, but the alcohol adds yet another layer of antibacterial activity.

• Air travel defense: Don't you hate traveling on airplanes? They make you breathe the same air over and over again, and the air is full of infectious disease thanks to all the immunosuppressed passengers who keep coughing up viruses and bacteria during the flight. If you're tired of getting sick when you travel, do what I do: Slam some Power Immune before you even get to the airport! I take this product preemptively, even before getting on the plane, just to have another level of defense against the onslaught of airborne diseases that are present on every airplane. (This strategy also works on trains, city busses and other modes of public transportation.)

• Fighting infectious disease: This is the most common use of the product -- fighting symptoms of colds or flus. As I described earlier, any time I begin to feel such symptoms, I take several droppers full of Power Immune (along with other nutrients) to quickly overcome the cold symptoms.

• Defense against pandemics: This is perhaps the most important reason why every household should have at least 3 bottles of Power Immune right now -- the threat of a coming pandemic. The bird flu, for example, hasn't disappeared or been conquered. It just hasn't mutated into a human form yet. It's only a matter of time, however, before some pandemic comes along and threatens humans with a deadly disease. When that happens, all the official government-issued vaccines will quickly prove to be useless (thanks to rapid mutation by the virus), and the only thing that will work for people will be botanical antiviral formulas like this one, since they operate with a synergy of phytochemicals that cannot be defeated by simple mutations. (Truly, those who rely on western medicine may not survive the next pandemic.)

Overall, the Power Immune product from Fitura earns my strong recommendation as a highly effective anti-viral formula that's far superior to any pharmaceutical antibiotic or anti-viral drug available today. I recommend that each family store a minimum of 3 bottles of this or a similar anti-viral tincture, and storing a dozen bottles is a lot smarter. (Always store them in a dark, cool place, like inside your refrigerator.) When infectious disease ultimately strikes the world again, you can bet that products like this will be wiped out of stock within days. It's important to prepare ahead of time so you're ready when the stuff hits the fan.

The only thing better than stocking up on these herbal products, by the way, is growing the herbs yourself. And I recommend you do that. Fresh herbs right out of the garden are always superior to anything in a bottle, so if you have a way to grow these anti-viral herbs year-round, that's the best strategy of all. The next best thing is a tincture like this one.
